I was disappointed in his overall play till Bama, but he did seem to step it up from that game on and finished on a roll with 4 TDs and a complete performace in the Cotton Bowl.
He just can't drift around any longer. Its time for him to lead the team on a regular basis and not just now and then.
Agreed. If he plays like he did in only certain games last year then he will start and we will be pumped up. If his play more reflects his total effort in 10 then the other two qbs would have to be absolutely awful to not get in the game and get a shot at becoming the starter. Just look at last year, Miles was absolutely dying for either of the two to separate themselves from the other and make Miles' job easy. JL stepped in and saved our skins in a couple of games, but he couldn't put it together long enough to prove his consistency. I think this year it's wide open in the spring. Whoever pulls ahead in Spring practice will get the starting nod. Once the season starts though, Miles is going to do what it takes to keep winning. If that means bring in a reliever for a couple of series, but never taking the starting job from the incumbent to hopefully mantain some continuity, I think he will. My thought is that whoever wins this job, will need to do it in the Spring and I also think it will be open-competition.

Played well against Bama sucked again vs ULM then played ok vs Ole Miss and Arkansas and had his best game of season vs A&M

I'm not saying he's good at all. All I said was that his back half performance would give the fanbase 400 percent more confidence in him than his entire year. If I'm a backup to JJ after last season, I am flat out embarrassed I can't take his job. I think JL and ZM feel this way going into the spring and I think it's wide open.

Honestly... the last 5 games he reverted more to his 09 form. He took more sacks because he was willing to sit in the pocket longer and attempt to wait for someone to get open. As I have said before both he and Lee have some mental blocks. Mett provides a fresh slate free of Crowton's touch.

Do you want better QB play or not?

Try answering your own question.

Sure, if you're in ZM or JL's shoes with a new coordinator and the guy that had the job last season doing so poorly you have to feel pretty confident. Last year it was understandable Miles wouldn't make a drastic mid-season switch because it could've totally ruined a season we were still salvaging. But this Spring, with all practice and 0 chance of derailing a great season mid-stream? I really think it will be open in March and close with Mett taking the job at the end of spring practice

Honestly, I want LSU to win. The play of a specific guy on the team doesn't change that. If LSU wins I really don't care if any one particular player had a great game or not. The individual is less important than the team.

To win the SEC or NC, it is pretty safe to say that better QB play is necessary. LSU is certianly in a position to make a run next year.

so many things wrong with this statement....
I have only read the OP and this first response, and this covers all the bases. We were 11-2 in spite of JJ, not because. If any of his relatives that post on here want to take issue, then I ask the same thing I always do-point to ONE game where you can attribute the win to JJ.

That's a supposition. Better is pretty undefinable(Indefinable?). And please don't insult either of us by quoting "stats". If the LSU QB's don't throw a single TD pass all season and LSU goes undefeated I'll not complain at all about "stats". If the LSU QB's throw 30 TD passes and LSU goes 6-5, I will be very disappointed, but I won't glory in improved "stats".

LSU isn't winning a NC with QB play as bad as it was last year.
You want to argue against that?

He had a great 2nd half against Bama. Played so well Gary Danielson pronounced the quarterback situation settled while commentating the game.

No. Just that a former qb commentating the game was impressed by his play in that game. That comment doesnt speak to whether or not he should b starting.

Apparently you don't use the Verne index like a lot of us do here. If you can make Verne go WOAAAAAAAH on a simple 5 yard out, you're a star.
