if he, in fact throws 100, which I doubt. USC is ripping him with a bunch of non hitters.

No put away pitch. A half decent slider and he would rack up Ks

If you have to post this shite just do it in the game thread. You don’t have to keep starting threads.

I’ve never seen a pitcher with the arm power that Shores has get shelled so bad by literally every team you face.

Fast ball up, slider down. Most time the slider doesn’t hit. You’re gunna get hit if you can’t locate and throw a secondary pitch for strikes to get guys off of it.

His problem is his off speed pitch just spins over the plate. Batters can sit on the fastball. If I’m him I am finding the best pitching instructor in the country and paying him to get me right. No excuse to have your stuff get squared up like that.

If he threw more over the top he would be a first rounder. Whoever taught him that 3/4 arm slot should be banned from teaching kids.

Our pitching coach could teach him a sinker with his arm slot and he’d be lethal. But our pitching coach is worthless so

Unreal how much ignorance comes from this board.

“Flat” has sort of the opposite definition now than it used to.
Having a flat fastball means it has a very high spin rate and has little to no dip between the mound and the plate. It’s called “induced vertical break”. Higher induced vertical break means a better/flatter fastball.
Pitchers like Cowen and Evans have high iVB on their fastball. Cowen has a great fastball because of this AND because his attack angle is low, so when he throws a fastball at the top of the zone, it’s almost like a riser. It produces a lot of underneath swings.
Shores has really low iVB, a higher attack angle cuz 6’8, and average extension. So he’s got empty velocity at 97-99. He needs better command of his secondaries and can’t leave his fastball over the plate or it’ll get crushed, as it usually does.
