I think that Jr. is a WR and catches like a WR beause that's what he knows. And he can operate in space as we saw. Shep was a QB/athlete that has transitioned into a WR and is still in transition. His suspension hurt his progress IMO

Why is it VS? They play on the same team.

Why are you pitting them against each other? It's not QB, they can both be on the field at the same time. We play a lot of receivers, this is beyond fricking stupid.

Hint: When you start a thread, make sure the player's name is spelled correctly in the title.
It's Shepard.
Liquid - This is not an English class, it is sports talk. Lay off.

Shep has been a good runner and has helped us through 2009 and 2010, but Beckham has better hands and gets open. Shep is not a natural WR, as he played QB in HS.

I know Shepard has only played two games but it still appears he is uncomfortable playing WR. OBJ right now has the best hands on the team. I will take OBJ any day of the week.

Why take one over the other. They are both on the field contributing. Shep is a much better blocker and has been a much better runner than receiver in the past.

they can both play ya know.

I agree

True. I have to think that OBJ and RR are much better route runners also. He has made some exceptional catches. I think some of the drops have been balls that were poorly thrown.
"Drops" need to be more defined IMO.
Drop-ball that is perfectly thrown to receiver in stride-100% receivers fault.
Drop- ball is thrown high, behind, low etc that cause receiver to make an extreme athletic move to catch the ball- more fault on QB
Great catches- should be factored in to counter the drops blamed on receivers. Everyone wants to only focus on receivers when they drop the ball and how it impacts the QB's numbers well great catches should offset drops.

Shep's biggest contributions have been his ability in space. Whether it's speed sweep/read option or bubble/tunnel screen etc. OBJ is a receiver!! He'll catch most balls and do something with it. They won't catch em all and JL or whoever throws it won't make every throw perfect. They are playmakers and should both be out there as often as possible.

Shep has looked better than I thought he would.
Looks on par to me. You must have had some low expectations

at what point does this cease to be an excuse for RS? I love RS and what he brings to the team, but this is his 3rd year as a WR (well 2 1/2 if you want to get technical). There are plenty of high school QBs that play WR in college, not uncommon at all. RS stopped getting reps at QB 5-6 games into his freshman year. His transitional period should be over by now IMO.

Shep is a quality reciever and can run the ball after the catch also very good on end around Junior is gonna be a super star

i don't understand the point of this thread.
are you saying we should not play Shepard at all?
i definitely like the possibilities with both on the field at the same time.
