we all can tell that Jefferson and Lee fail to play up to the level expected of most SEC QBs.

Really? I thought Lee played pretty well for not having much playing time since 08. Garcia has been starting for over 2 years at USC and he is still terrible.

What kills me is the fact that it seems to us all that all of the QB's on the roster or subpar. We lost out on Zach Lee and somehow lost Chris Garrett as well. Lee and JJ were both 4 and 5 star quarterbacks coming out of high school. RS was also a huge QB star out of the Texas area when he was in High school as well. Not to mention that RR, PP, and Blue from what I have heard have also either played the QB position or took snaps out of the wildcat. If all the QB's on the roster are really this bad to have Chris Garrett leave us and not try the other remaining QB's on the roster...and perhaps either RS or RR...then we all must conclude that there is a problem developing QB's at LSU. So, the QB coach or offensive coordinator needs to be gone by the end of this season. I can't stand hearing how JJ and LEE are both young and still learning. I would believe it if all the other QB's in their Junior year struggle just like they do, but it doesn't seem to be the case. Terrell Pryor, Ryan Mallet, Steven Threat, Matt Barkley, and Freshmen such as Nate Newton and that Michigan QB come to mind. What is our problem guys?

yea i dont get why we havent gotten a solid qb either. thats what we should look for first. i mean you build the team around the qb basically. JJ was a 5 star recruit?

LSU should try to play Shepard in the Pistol formation,The pistol formation can be used in a variety of ways, because the quarterback is closer to the line of scrimmage than a traditional shotgun formation. This allows him to see more easily over the line and make down field reads. He will also get the ball snapped to him faster, which can alter timing patterns greatly for a preparing defense. The pistol offense can effectively use draw plays, counters, and options using three wide receiver formations or multiple tight ends combined with a fullback for pass protection. In a pistol formation, hand-offs occur 2-3 yards closer than in the shotgun, which can make for a more effective running game, while keeping pass efficiency. This formation works well with dual threat quarterbacks who can both throw and run.

this is stupid. He does not need to be a great passer. This is the whole point of a dual threat qb. He is not a running back or a quater back. It is a hybrid position. But we do not have the right staff to utilize him properly. Pat white and tebow were not great passers, vince young as well. The thing that really pisses me off is he is so electric with the ball in his hands that laws of nature demand that passing lanes will be wide fricking open when defenses try plug the gaps and seel the edge.

I have never seen a runner with the cutting ability and acceleration that shepard has. He is flat out explosive and could basically be a one man wrecking crew.

oh well, time to wake up.

He was the number 2 prospect coming out of high school, as unhappy as everyone am with the coaching decisions you have to believe that he was given a shot in practice and didn't do well at all.

here's your problem.

there's no identity on offense. all those QBs you mentioned, they suit a certain style of offense.

Seems to be if you look at the way the recruiting has gone for QBs, it's like the staff has no idea what they want their qb to do. Run? Pass in the pocket? Great throwing on the move? It's like they have no idea.

most coaches have a certain skillset in mind when they pursue a player.

It's obvious that the only way this staff recruits is through rivals.com. And that's just not the right way to go about it.

watching shep throw is like pulling teeth. besides, if a h.s. q.b. can't average at least 65% completion rate, he will not be very affective in d-1.

Jai ran it 84 times as a Jr in high school for 748 and 3 touchdowns and threw it for 56 of 125 for 1,165 and 10 touchdowns.

Shep is not going to play QB. Chad Jones is not going to play linebacker and Trindon Holliday will not play defensive end!!!

Move on!!! Move on!!! Move on!!!

Yea, and Terell Pryor is better suited for Tight End.

Word. If anyone can point to college stats to prove Russel Shepard cannot play QB please post.

Otherwise you are relying on Les Miles and Gary Crowton's analysis. Seriously. I have two words for you on that: Jordan Jefferson
