Yes and I saw it throughout recruiting. This kid is a leader for sure and he is a player. I think it is foolish for a coach to think a freshmen can't be a leader.

This kid has a great personality, he handles himslef well, is always upbeat and positive and those are some of the characteristics of a leader.

I hated to see y'all get this kid because I think he is so good. He has to be given a chance in order to have a positive impact on the players around him. I think they have to figure out a way to get this kid on the field and get the ball in his hands. I think he is one of those players that can have an impact on the team just because he is on the field.

I really like this kid.

I do....I kind of feel that all the stops arent being pulled out. 10 to 3 or 40 to 3 is the same result...a loss. Why not give the kid a shot?
Im pretty sure this dude was pretty young when this was happening....

people criticized Vince Young's throwing ability also.. then he went on to change the culture of the Texas program, change Mack Brown's approach towards his players, and win a national title.. all while throwing an ugly ball..

its so hard for me to understand how the coaches dont get this.. if the QB is a SERIOUS threat running, then the WRs will be open.. you dont need Joe Montana like precision to hit Riley Cooper when he has no one within 15 yds of him..

Nobody was better at giving the defense presents from the pocket than Lee.

but our coaches failed to recognize the weapon they have at their disposal
inexcusable. i feel bad for our top players being wasted by coaches that won't make the simple adjustments needed to make a first down. i'm not complete done with Miles and Crowton but they need to wake the frick up start earning that paycheck.

You mean "pocket presence". An awareness of your position in the pocket relative to the rush and your protection. You are correct. He has none as he drops into the arc of the ends pass rush without stepping up into the "pocket". He drifts into the sack by retreating or moving laterally into the other end. The line play is poor but his inexperience is making it appear much worse than it is

Run zone reads out of the shotgun. Play action off of this, give him 2 passing options and if they're not there tuck it and run.

I totally agree with the op. Shep has all the skills. Leadership and athletic. He is not a JOJO Lafell kinda guy. He does not need three years to reach his potential. His potential could come to light in a matter of touches not seasons. He is a guy you make a priority to work in the game. Not when its convenient.

hell do that with JJ. he actually can run the zone read, unlike this other option play that needs to be scrapped.

I'd love to see JJ run it as well. It would keep the DE's a little more honest, and give him some more time to throw. Right now they're just charging up the field without giving any respect to the run.

RS seemed to have ball security issues the few times he got to play. Miles hates that shite.
