Point was moreso the fact that even if LSU is attempting the same, the athletes themselves seem reluctant to comply.

first off, what is it supposed to be?
did he break the rim & the floor?
the options are limitless with a statue...they could do much better

True, however, LSU apparently (rumored)has already made the statue and the base on which it will stand. I think Shaq will end up letting them do it because he's a good dude.

One of the greatest basketball players from LSU
is Bob Pettit, not Petit(in article) or Petite
as in Andy Petite for the Yankees...

Don't follow basketball, so I don't care.

Pete Maravich
Tommy Casanova
Billy Cannon
Bert Jones

These are the only names in LSU lore (as players) that mean anything to me. You know who I was talking about, that should be good enough.

Good players. 3 of them good LSU ambassadors.
None of them the ambassadors that Shaq has been.

Truth. But I don't buy into the "living legend" type thing. Once Shaq finally stops suiting up at the ripe old age of 73, then we can sit back and look at his achievements, and THEN discuss the idea of having him immortalized.

It's just bad timing, IMO.
