What do you think of twin studies and adoption studies on IQ? Legit interested in your pov.

That's a micro view of IQ

When discussing IQ on the macro, it's a completely different discussion. Lots of variables can be tweaked to improve IQ on a macro level.

Nutrition is a huge one, especially at a young age. You have to start at nutrition.

Removing certain toxic substances (lead is the easiest example) used by the people. Basically all of the sanitary implements.

Then it's down to reading and education and the improvement comes in terms of generations. You don't just get a 20 point score improvement overnight. You have to basically build up the society where a generation improves on the last to have a base where it's not only a cultural trait, but familial and local population units can imprint more cognitively complex demands on children. This is the issue we still face here in the US, b/c we try to pretend that all populations are equal and force parents and grandparents who have no concept of [insert advanced idea] who have no ability to explain or reinforce that concept, which then nerfs the development of their children...who go onto repeat the same thing with the next generation.

The macro is just made up of a bunch of micros the way I see it.

Totally agree that nutrition has a whole lot to do w/ it, but then I get back to the twin and adoption studies. The adopted kids have the same diet, same nutrition, same education, same parents, yet consistently different IQs based on the race. The twins separated at birth have different nutrition, different education, different parents, then as adults, their IQs are basically the same.

I used to be on team Sowell about IQ. But, the evidence just doesn't allow me to believe that "nurture" is the primary driver of it anymore.

This is not to say the Flynn Effect isn't a real thing. I do believe IQs can improve in populations over time...I mean, that's just a clear fact, but genetics have a whole lot to do w/ it. If that weren't the case, then these studies wouldn't be as conclusive as they are. We would also see blacks have the same IQs as whites or Asians by wealth/income levels. We just don't.

Kind of but it builds on itself that individuals can't do as well.

There are things we can do to destroy IQ on the individual level and macro level, but there isn't much we can do to really grow IQ on the individual level. On the macro level we can, but it takes time.

That gets into SES factors and I touched on that in my post for issues specific to America. We have gone about it the wrong way following progressive idiocy and their god, tabula rasa. Their refusal to admit any difference has, sadly and ironically, held back disadvantaged groups. The liberal-leftist model sets them up for failure and a very difficult path to improving over time.
