I've plumbed the net and the old threads. I can't believe nobody has this.

I used to have video of the brawl. I taped it from all the sports segments on BR news that night. Each station had their own cameras and angles. It was pretty good and up-close, but I lost all of my VHS tapes in Katrina. Oh, well.

If that's the game I remember, it rained cats and dogs, and LSU lost. Had attended a Neil Diamond concert and then had to endure the rain. UGH

No. We won the game... AND the fight.

and the game was called early because of the fight. no big deal because we had a comfortable lead. it was a great fight, the best i've ever seen on a football field. i think our boys got real tired of the shite tulane was saying before and during the game and they released their frustration by beating the shite out of them.

I was there and it was so AWESOME!
Honest truth: As we took our seats before the game started I turned to my friend and said, "I want to see a knock down drag out fight during this game."
I remember the next day on the news there were several LSU players commenting: "I got my licks in..."

Helments were takem off and used as weapons against heads.

If I remember correctly, there was only maybe a half-minute left in the game, and we did have the game in the bag, so it was a no-brainer for the refs to call the game.
It took place in the southwest corner of the field. It was spread out over a pretty big area, but I remember most of the helmet-swinging happening in the endzone.
Also, I was in the student section, and I was listening to Idiot Hawthorn on a little transistor radio. When the fight broke out, the whole stadium roared... unlike anything I've ever heard. All I could think of was the Roman Coliseum. At the time, it seemed like the fight went on for a long time, and the rabid roaring/cheering lasted throughout. When the cops (or security, or whoever) finally got out there and broke it up, everyone in the stadium started LOUDLY booing the hell out of the cops for stopping the fight.
True to his gooberish nature, Idiot Hawthorn said on the radio at that moment that the crowd was booing the players for their unsportsman-like behavior. I've always thought that Hawthorn was a total idiot.
