How about the steady decline in defense and fundamental play since the Miles era began (had to put that one, because it's important in the grand scheme of things)? The playcalling in the first half was awful and led to stagnant play. The choice of *Fill-In-The-Blank* succeeded, despite its total idiocy. (a recurring theme in the Miles era, and his saving grace - because talent saves him despite bad choices). The playcalling after the turnover when LSU was 7 points down was moronic. Personnel choices.

And none of this really changed during the comeback. LSU's physical talent beat up on an out-of-gas team with lesser athleticism. It was obvious. And that, as I said, is what has saved Les time and again, but his biggest fault - sloppy overall play - is what will eventually do us in.

Hard to argue with that analysis. Anyone can whore-out a statistic (see U.S. Presidential campaign adds)...

Has anyone given any thought to the fact that a large majority of season ticket holders gave away or sold their tickets? I wouldn't consider the folks at the game yesterday as die hard fans. If they were they would be season ticket holders.

I am a season ticket holder and I consider myself a loyal fan....I mean look at my garage. However, I didn't go to the game because 5 home games in a row is too much for me personally. I do have a life outside of LSU football and essentially giving up 5 weekends is a bit much. I don't think that makes me a bandwagon fan.

PS this isn't Madden, it's college football.

Good point!!! For all of you who want to go on ad nausem about "coaching deficiencies" and pick apart every frickin' series, I have just one question: How many college football games have you actually COACHED? I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess... ZERO..NADA...Not a frickin' ONE. I ve been a student of the game since I was 12 and think I know a lot, but my only head coaching experience was 2 years of 6-8 yr olds with my youngest son and I m here to tell you even that was a hell of a lot harder on the sideline than it looks from the stands.

And for those of you too young to remember, we one time had a coach who was a class guy, consistently won 8-9 games a season, went to a bowl game every year and provided some of the biggest wins and most memorable moments in LSU football history. Unfortunately, we ran his arse off because (pick one) A) he couldn't coach offense B) he couldn't coach defense C)The offense was boring D) The defense gave up too many points E) He didn't always go to a "major" bowl F) He couldn't beat Alabama or G) He didn't win the SEC championship every other year. When we showed him the door, our punishment from the Almighty was being doomed to wander in the wilderness for the next 20 yrs or so, being lead by such coaching legends as Stovall, Archer, Hallman and DiNardo.

I guess it is true that those who don't remember history are doomed to repeat it, but please don't take the rest of us with you!

Unfortunatley the majority of our fanbase has always been like this. They cannot wait for any excuse to leave the stadium. Winning or losing, no matter what. If there's the slightest discomfort from either the score, the weather or whatever they have always been antsy to get the hell out of Tiger Stadium. It is truely the strangest group of sports fans anywhere in the country. I think it's the culture. They have always been about the partys. They are more loyal to their food, booze and pre-game and apparently post game festivities than they are the team and the game itself. Truly odd and embarrasing to say the least.

Thank you 80sTiger. Those were the 20 longest and miserable years of my life as a football fan. I didn't think those days would ever end. From our perspective, an 8-4 season ain't so bad.

I dunno...we might be dumb, but we ain't stand out in a crowd dumb. Go visit with some of the other fan sites for awhile. Stoopid is the rule not the exception. That said, it does get depressing. I have to admit I was ready at one point to donate to the "buyout fund".

My old coach used to say "don't tell me how rough the water is, just bring the ship home!" I think it is very appropriate for this season post-NC and rebuilding!!!

Spoken like a real fan. I'd like to watch a game with the stadium filled with nothing but guys like you. Now that would be a crowd!

I'm not talking about fans at the home game yesterday, but fans everywhere throughout the season, and hell, even LAST season.

The bottom line:

Just like all great programs, a lot of gutless bandwagon fans have latched on to the LSU Tigers. The same fans who, if they were even out of diapers then, are clueless about the struggles of the 1980 and especially early 1990 seasons.

These are the same fans now, like spoiled entitled children, crying doom and gloom about every tough time the Tigers go through.

Grow a set of balls, weak Tiger fans.

SURE, be pissed, disappointed, complain, but know where the line is drawn between dedication and cowardice. Stop doing such gutless things as calling for Miles' firing and "predicting" recruits leaving in droves, losing seasons, declines, and other idiotic things I've read but don't have the tolerance to repeat.

Great programs are not built on weak fans.

For the real Tiger fans, the Tigers will continue to grow and evolve and finish this season strong and be primed and experienced for next year, BECAUSE of the struggles of this year.

Well said

I sat throught the 80's which was mediocre. A couple of very good Arnsparger teams that made it to the Sugar Bowl only to get whacked by Nebraska, and then the deplorable 90's. The expectations of national championships are great to see, but unrealistic to think you deserve it. I can't stand what is either some with short term memories or bandwaggoners from recent successes. It's not hard to see what hurt us this year(or who). True fans don't jump on players and coaches at the FIRST SIGN of difficulty. They will be great again soon and all the haters will be back licking the players and coaches nut sacks.
