Yep. Not trying to dispute any of that. But if the attainable goal is to win the CWS now (which is my only goal as a fan at this point), you have to be concerned about the lack of consistent hitting.

I agree, we suck offensively. Just another team that won the sec with no hitting. It happens all the time.

I said it earlier in the thread that this team is built to come out of the loser's bracket.

I hated this 10-team format, because in hind-sight, getting the 4-seed created an easier road to the title than getting the 1-seed. There is no "bye" for the top 2 seeds. The top 4 seeds all get the same "advantage," which is one less game guaranteed than the bottom 6 seeds if you don't lose.

That said, I wasn't upset losing today, because the mix-match pitching staff vs. Stratton was bound to be incredibly difficult. However, lose tomorrow vs Ole Miss and I won't be so happy (assuming Gausman starts)

Motivation factor: MSU 110%, LSU, not as much...

People make a big deal about each at bat. Why wouldn't they make a big deal about a whole game?

the game was lost on one pitch
why lsu continues to throw hittable pitches on 0-2 counts is alarming - that pitch needs to be buried

That was a tremendous game today. To all the people saying we burned our best pitcher today I can assure you our 2-4 pitchers are as good as anybody else's. And to all the people saying this was a shite game and meaningless to LSU I will say that is a hell of a spin job. That being said, we consider it an honor anytime we play and defeat LSU.

We pitched our #2 for 2 innings(scoreless) and didnt put in any of our remaining top 4.

What the hell do you think it was? LSU is trying to set themselves up for the actual post-season

I wouldn't call it a "shite game"(which sounds gross btw) but it kinda was meaningless for LSU. Nice win though yall are playing well right now.

I'm sure it has been said, but LSU goes into tomorrow's game with essentially every arm available for the rest of the tourney. They can throw KG tomorrow, Eades on Friday and with only two innings pitched, could bring back Nola on Sat or Sunday and be on track with their rotation for the Regional.

Lose tomorrow and I'll be pissed, though, because I don't get into Hoover until tomorrow afternoon. I would like to see them play at least one game dammit!!!

Our pitching is not what lost the game, it was poor offensive execution but credit goes to State, we went up against probably the best pitcher in the country and caught them while they are hot. I don't understand why people are making a big deal of this loss. Keep in mind that they had a lot more to play for.

so what does this mean for our chances in the sec tournament? are we out? or do we still have a shot at winning?

Absolutely. Like I said, from a pitching standpoint, they may be set up better than anyone else in the tournament. They just need a little more offense, but they won't face another pitcher like Stratton.
