Guys, the Stevenson/Laird combo is going to stay for the rest of the season. Mainieri's been playing it since the South Carolina series.

Missed the game. Work. So, what was the deal?
Why'd we leave Nola in so long?

This thread is full of FAIL.

I'm trying but the season might as well be over.

I'm actually ok with it. If Katz, Bregman, Rhymes, McMullen, Ibarra, and Jones all hit for decent averages in the regionals, then I'm ok with sacrificing Foster's potential offense for Laird and Stevenson basically covering every blade of grass from left-center to the right field line.

Hmmm, LSU was something like 40-4 going into that series. Since the lineup switch we have gone 9-5.

Interdasting.

I've posted it elsewhere and I'm cool with guys like Chopique and Astro not agreeing with it, because they have watched this team just as much, if not more than me, and I see where they are coming from. It's just that with Raph in LF, I feel like we have to counter-balance that with two great defensive outfielders in CF and RF. After watching the abortion of a Rhymes/Fields/Edward(or Katz) outfield last year, I like that pretty much every fly ball is caught and if the rest of our lineup hits like they have been hitting for most of the season, I'm ok with Stevenson hitting 9th.

Did you watch base runner move from first to third tonight on a routine ball to right field? Didn't even get a throw. Laird and Stevenson can run down fly balls, but the other teams will take extra bases on their weak arms.

Mark down another plus for Foster who has a good arm.

It's good debate. At the end of the day, Mainieri is the coach, and he's pretty, darn good at his job.

Definitely can't knock Stevenson's ability in center. Coach obviously thinks the difference in having him out there is enough.

Astro, post your stats with the record by who plays centerfield. Or did you do that in this thread already?

Stro, what the frick happened? I've been driving all day and just settled into my hotel.

I caught the score but didnt get too much info. Did we let it go late in the game? Or did we just finish poorly?

Nola look good? Katz? Bregman? Etc...

Actually, I was wrong. The move was made after the USC series, but lets look at those 5 losses...

vs South Carolina (4/27): Foster started in RF, Stevenson on the bench.

vs South Carolina (4/28): Again, Foster started in RF, Stevenson on the bench.

vs Texas A&M (5/9): Stevenson 0-4, but Mengden shut the entire lineup down outside of Bregman and Rhymes

vs Ole Miss (5/18): LSU JV team loses. Stevenson didn't play.

vs Arkansas (tonight): Stevenson went 0-fer but did draw a walk when base runners were at a premium.

Is his offense going to win us any games? Hell no, but in any of those losses was he the direct cause? no.

This is the definite argument, because both Laird and Stevenson have craptastic arms.
