I think enough has come to light to remove his name from the court. Hope the new arena and Dale’s passing by then is the catalyst.

Dale is my favorite coach in any sport on any level.
Les Miles is second.

I was always pretty ambivalent about that when there were a lot of folks passionately stumping for the court to be named after him. I had no strong feeling one way or the other but some of the folks I grew up watching LSU hoops with were taken aback that I was not upset they had not done it.

I will say I was surprised to hear how angry he got when approached with the prospect of sharing the court name with Gunter. It on the surface seemed like one of the causes he would campaign for - as he often jumped in both feet for causes for the under-represented. I hear he was VERY upset.

I don't see them removing it as you say - but just as with doing it in the first place - could pretty much care less one way or the other. I'd be fine if they did and fine if they didn't.

Mulkey has quickly surpassed Dale’s accomplishments, especially if you look at her entire career. The new arena will be a great opportunity to correct a wrong and if you recall there were some on the board who voted against Dale.

Oh absolutely, there was a reason it took so long to get it done in the first place. Dale was polarizing even at his height. The vindictiveness referenced in this thread was not confined to the NCAA and other coaches. There were plenty LSU officials who got a taste.

Has always been that way, never forget his campaign and using Brando a few years ago to keep Sue Gunter’s name from joining his in the PMAC court.

Hopefully the new court in the new arena has Mulkey as nattys required for that honor.
The one thing off the court he has ever been right about and this is the example you pick? God damn right it should only be the Dale Brown Court.

Whatever anyone's feelings on this are - whether it should only be Dale, anyone at all or no one - I think Dale's reaction to it really surprised me - and I thought I knew and understood Dale about as well as any LSU fan out there. I honestly would have expected Dale to say something like, "I'd be honored to share the court name with Sue Gunter" knowing how Dale dealt with public things like this all his life.

But by all accounts he was really angry about it and that more than anything set off the chain reaction. He could have called off Brando and Collis and others......he didn't.

I, as with whether the court should be named after Dale in the first place, was pretty ambivalent about adding Sue as well. I would have slept well at night either way.
