LSU is ranked #1 for both men and womens outdoor track. The men haven't won a championship since the 2004 indoor season and women 2008 outdoor season (2012 outdoor season was vacated). Dennis Shaver has won only 1 national title as head coach. The SEC championship is also the last chance to set up a qualifying mark the NCAA championship.

For those who don't follow the sport, traditionally the SEC championship is the most difficult conference in the nation. You can lose this meet and still be in the title hunt.

Heading into the final day of SEC comp, LSU is 6th in the womens and 4th in the mens competition.

Men still have 11 events that have finals and women have 13, many of which LSU has athletes still in position to score.

Former LSU head coach Pat Henry is at Texas A&M who is hosting the meet.

I believe this is also on ESPN.

With Thelma Davies not running the women have no shot at the sec. they’ve still got a nice shot at nationals if she can get healthy.

I’ll be a little surprised if the men don’t win today. Tons of points to be scored and we’re favorites in quite a few events

Btw weird side rant about LSU at nationals when the thread is about the SEC championship. The men and women have won the sec’s far more recent than their national finish

I guess track isn't popular on the board considering it has 3 downvotes out the gate. I don't get that.

It's on the SEC network. Hopefully this baseball game ends soon.

I've seen over the year that when track is mentioned on this board, most folks really only care when it comes to how they will do at nationals.

Also, this is one of the best LSU teams ever on paper for men and women. This is a very important year on a national level.

I did enjoy your explanation that your sec outcome does not indicate your chances at nationals

Have you heard anything on recruiting? Haven’t seen any announcements

She didn’t compete in the 100m. Did she run the 200? I figured she’d double

Recuiting is tighter this year because of the free season. I know they are being very stingey with who they sign in state. Remember they only have aroun 12 mens scholarships and 18 womens.

Laird just demolished Boling. Holy crap. That's a great 10 points.

I wonder what the explanation is for her not running the 100? That’s a lot of points taken off the board

I think it's because LSU (men) typically have a better shot at winning nationals than conference. Dwight Stones touched on it in the opening, conference is all about depth and that's not something LSU typically has.

I just forgot Dunbar’s daughter left LSU for Alabama after he got a job there. Would have been nice points for us

Amber Hart has 2 fouls and no marks in the disc. She was projected point. Hopefully she can just get one in and make finals.

Maybe she's hurting a bit and he wanted to let her focus on one race. No clue.
