yes its a message board afterall and i expect people to believe but whatever

a few more tidbits i forgot to mention

1. DIRECTVs contract with the NFL is up this year and thats priority number 1 right now, hands down. the NFL and the SEC Network are not the same in their eyes nor should they be so thats taking top priority at the moment.

2. dont forget AT&T is trying to aquire directv so that adds a whole other element. sec is already on uverse and part of the deal going through with att is that directv must keep the sunday ticket

3. this i know for a fact- directv offered the sec network a package that would include it along with the other regional sports networks for a $7 monthly sports package fee and SEC network said no

they want it as part of the everyday packages with directv and are asking somewhere around $5-7 a month per customer which would mean more money for them.

its a bad move for directv to agree to that because you would charging every customer that amount, including all the people who dont care about the sec.

direct rep told me that if the sec would agree to a seperate sports package for $7 a month they would have done it yesterday so im in directvs corner on this one.

So would the SEC network be regional or national? Kind of worried because I currently live outside of SEC country.

AT&T just announced that if you live in an SEC state, you can get it with their 200 package. Everyone else would have to get the 300.

Someone tell Charter to get up off their asses before I dump them. If it wasn't for their amazing internet and lifetime rate they gave me I wouldn't have them as a cable provider anymore. I get their platinum package with fastest internet, landline phone and every single channel for $150 a month for life. Pretty good deal, IMO since the internet is so fast.

Lol at you thinking you're gonna get out of your contract. Lol at your attorney buddy too.
yep, I image some high school kid drew up the Directv contracts - they probably don't have an attorney on staff at Directv.

So I called yesterday and spoke to an account specialist. My buddy is an attorney and told me to make them put a note in my account stating that if they didn't provide SEC network by 8/14/14, we would be discontinuing our contract on basis that directv could not fufill contractual obligations.

After that account specialist stops laughing maybe they can actually help you resolve your problem.

The SEC needs to get it channel in front of as many eyeballs as possible. The more people around the country with access, the better.

Direct TV would like the channel, but it will be one of hundreds of channels for them that most of their customers won't care about. Of the ones that do care, many of them are under contract.

If the negotiations extend into the season, the SECN will be losing way more money than DTV. Ultimately, the SECN will do whatever it takes to get on with most of the major providers. I have very little concern that DTV will be not one of them.

eatel's contract with espn expires july 31 and they will have the sec network once the current contract expires. not sure about cox, but they are probably in the same situation.
