There is nothing wrong with games kicking off at noon. If I recall, one of ESPN's highest rated games this year so far was the Auburn/Utah State game and it kicked off at 11:00 a.m. central time

That game was so highly rated because the defending national champion was in danger to losing to Utah State. There's nothing wrong with Nebraska kicking off at noon when it's in the 40s and 50s. But in Louisiana fans would rather wait for the sun to go down.

Is there anywhere to look up the old traditional start times before tv for all schools?

Do you realize how freaking hot and humid it is here in Sept and October?

This doesn't surprise me. It was the first game on the first weekend of the season.

Enough with all this night game whining bullshite.

Yall have a great football tradition, I'm not knocking it in the least. BUT, this is LSU tradition. TS is a magical place at night.

I have no problem with that. I just have a problem with all the whining every time a game time is announced if it isn't a night game. And I understand tradition is that home games are at night but that was over 20 years ago. It hasn't been like that since then.

But I have to say

I know exactly how hot and humid it is in September and October. Definitely can understand wanting to play at night during those times. I have been to TS many times to see a game. It's a great place either during the day or at night.

CBS contract runs through 2023

Same length for ESPN

That's about 3 BILLION dollars in contracts for those of you counting. And it's not just football games.

And to think, those contracts are only going to get bigger with the addition of Texas A&M.

Look, I hate kicking off during the day. But until an Arab Sheek donates 5 billion dollars to LSU to leave the SEC, go independent, and start their own TV network, we are kinda stuck with CBS.

And look, not too long ago, we had ALL, yes ALL night games in 2009! Some years it works out for us, others, not so much.

These are the ratings from the regular season last year. I highlighted the day games I know of. Of course No. 1 was a compelling matchup and on a day when a lot of people are sitting at home.

Most Watched Games of the Year

1) Auburn-Alabama (12.5 million viewers: CBS)
2) Auburn-S. Carolina- SEC Title (10.1 million viewers: CBS)
3) Boise State-Va. Tech (9.9 million viewers: ESPN)
4) Oklahoma-Nebraska-Big 12 Title (8.9 million viewers: ABC)
5) Florida-Alabama (8.6 million viewers: CBS)
6) Georgia-Auburn (8.3 million viewers: CBS)
7) ABC Regional* (8.2 million viewers: ABC)
8) Alabama-Arkansas (8.1 million viewers: CBS)
9) Arizona-Oregon (7.8 million viewers: ESPN)
10) Alabama-S. Carolina (7.7 million viewers: CBS)

*Regionalized telecast features Oklahoma-Ok. State and Notre Dame-S. Cal.

So, hypothetically, if the network broadcasting the Nebraska home games said, "You're not allowed to do the Tunnel Walk, give out blackshirts at practice the week before the game, or have your band there, you'd be OK with this because your university is getting money?

I know this is a somewhat weak comparison because I'm not terribly well-versed in the Nebraska traditions, but the point is valid. You are OK with sacrificing the tradition of college football to play when a network says you will play?
