Okay fair enough.

So where does that put LSU as a program?

Somewhere between South Carolina and Kentucky?

The SEC as a whole use to have a much deeper pool of quality coaches. I know the jury is out on many of the new comers but this is what the list should be.

1. Saban
2. Fisher
3. Smart
4. Mullen
5. Malzahn
6. Orgeron
7. Muschamp
8. Morris
9. Stoops
10. Pruitt
11. Moorhead
12. Luke
13. Odom
14. Mason

Which of these coaches aside from the top 5 would you rather have?

Not the point. Im certain neither you nor I think O is a great head coach. Both of us wish a different choice had been made.
Not the point of this thread. Stay on topic. The point is the list is shite, not only Os ranking, but also others as people have stated.
You don't need to use this thread to point out O is beneath the LSU job. Folks here either already know or disagree.

Jimbo's last 3 years: 27-12
Mullen's last 3 years: 24-15
Malzahn last 3 years: 25-15
Kentucy's coach last 3 years: 19-19
Orgeron's last 2 seasons: 17-8

Looks like this writer is definitely on top of his game.

He'll stay ranked low until he proves otherwise.

Both of those schools coaches would leave those gigs to coach LSU, IMO. Not sure if that answers your question or not.

I was just pointing out what most in the thread were implying : that he’s even beneath the South Carolina job.
He’s beneath all the teams of coaches ranked above him. And that’s sad, because we need to compete with them, not get outcoached weekly.

I’d take Derek mason over O. He’s been a successful d coordinator and hes not terrible at Vanderbilt

Muschamp and Orgeron are interchangeable really. Both sucked at their first jobs. O lost to Troy, and Muschamp lost to a D2 school that didn't complete a forward pass. I'll give both credit for improving. Neither were worthy of their second hire, but both got em.

Muschamp has a 43-33 record and won a division title. They are not interchangeable at this point.

O has a 9-4 season at LSU. So at minimum, that has to count for something considering Luke, Pruitt and Moorehead don't have such a season in their HC resume. What hurts O is that unlike pretty much everyone else in the SEC, he's never been a coordinator either. Moorehead has had success an an OC (if you think he was the driving force behind PSU); Pruitt was Bama's DC (if you consider Saban not to be the actual DC). Mason had success as a DC at Stanford.

The bottom line is that outside of South Louisiana O is viewed as a cartoon character by college football fans and he has yet to put significant skins on the wall to gain respect. He has an opportunity to do that. But until he does, he's going to be at the bottom of these lists
