I still need help on this. Scott Woodward signed off on both O’s extension and Pelini’s contract, right?

So either he made those deals in haste OR he isn’t doing enough NOW to support his investment in O by letting the DC search turn into a shite show.

Which is it? I mean if you wanted to let O hang himself that’s fine but then why give him a huge new contract last off-season? He’s the guy now so why wouldn’t you do whatever you need to do to support this very high profile coordinator search?

I'm not a well connected insider like you are. A lot of us around here aren't either.

So please explain to exactly what he is or isn't doing and how you know this.

TIA

I get that the O slurpers are going to use him as a scapegoat for whenever O makes a bad hire but do normal fans honestly believe that Woodward is functioning as an NFL GM type where he’s telling O who his coordinators are going to be? That’s just silly

Let’s start with his head coach going on local radio every week to give the world the inside scoop on what they’re doing? BTW you’re letting your assistant AD who is part of an extremely serious, nationally reported on investigation do the same.

Next we get into why you’ve only interviewed 3 candidates in 6 weeks despite months of advance knowledge of this very high profile vacancy.

O deserves plenty of blame, but ultimately the affairs of the LSU Athletic Department are the responsibility of the Athletic Director. Your football coach should coach football.

You think Scott has hitched his wagon to Orgeron?

He gives Orgeron a very long leash for a reason.

When you make the decision to give your football coach a huge extension, don’t you think you should then do whatever you need to do in order to support that coach in being the best they can be for LSU? Otherwise you’re just wasting everyone’s time and money.

Scott didn’t make that decision alone.

There’s a huge difference between supporting the head coach and making decisions for him. Why hire him at all if you’re going to be forced to do the job for him?

At the end of the day does the Athletic Director make that call or not?

Who is asking for Scott to come down from the east side suites and start calling plays? Who is managing the process of the hire if not the athletic director? Derek Ponamsky? Is it responsible of Scott to let that happen? Be honest.

It wasn’t Scott that ran his fricking mouth to reporters. You’re assuming Scott isn’t facilitating, but it’s a fact that Ed Orgeron has made the process far more difficult than it needs to be.

It’s like no one here has ever been involved in high level contract negotiations.

It’s not a hard decision when said coach had just completed the greatest CFB season ever......

I mean if you want to shite on him, yea hiring Jimbo after the worst FSU season in 40 years was questionable.......

But hey, he made the natives and boosters happy in both cases...

Which, if it were a one time thing, would be on O. But when he has a regularly scheduled spot each week to run his mouth maybe the AD should step in and shut that down.

Basic employee management.

He made some minor noise at A&M and he had the right connections in the good ole boy network. That was enough to get him the job. Unfortunately he turned out to not be very competent.
