Well, I guess we can put you down for hoping that LSU never again finishes higher than 4th or 5th in the SEC West.

That's ridiculous. Even though I'd like a new coach, Miles would be a fool if he retired early and didn't accpet the buyout. It's bullshite that you would even claim this is about morals or ethics. It's a business deal. LSU made the terms of the deal and we need to pay up if we want him gone.

No matter what happens now, LSU looks bad. I know we have this conversation about his future every year, but this is the first time it is so publicly negative. Before it was about whether he'd bolt for Michigan.

Now it just makes fans and boosters look spoiled and bitter, like they're still too hung up on Saban to move forward. They care more about the damn football team than the school, which is actually in a position to improve people's lives and make the state a better place to live. I know it's different funds (no need to remind anyone), but boosters can cut checks for the school if they want to. Fans calling for this need to get a life.

Had Les just used the huge budget we gave him to actually go out and land top assistants

I don't know as much about the program as some of you guys on here, but I thought that huge budget (or lack there of) was one of the reasons Steele was hired.

At least that's what some folks on the rant have claimed.

How many of those wins were with Saban players?

And the next coach will have Miles' players. So who will get credit?

Makes too much sense.

An offense that doesn't entertain people and frustrates the rest will cost about 20 million when a coach is decided upon. And I'll double-down on what Van Pelt predicts, too.

We are a buy now/impulse shopper society. No matter, we'll get what we pay for and how we pay for it.

because that would put Les well into his 70s, He wont have that record because he wont coach that long.

I keep hearing all sorts of examples to justify one point of view or the other.

What I think is lost in the conversation and ignored by outsiders is the HARM that Miles brought onto himself due to his stubbornness and ego during the LSU - Bama NC game.

No doubt that Bama and their coaches were better, but Miles SURRENDERED the game.

He simply continued to do the same thing over and over and expected different results.
In essence, I am the coach, damned be everyone else.
THAT,
IMHO, was the straw that broke the camel's back in terms of fans attitude toward Miles. He lost a lot of support.

His overall record is good, but his SEC record is mediocre of lately.

Frankly, to some extent, the SEC has added to the pressure placed on coaches by the failure to have a rotating schedule.

His salvation has been his recruiting ability. His judgement in choosing coaches for the program can also be questioned. From the days of co-defensive coordinators to Peveto and others.

EX: He should have been able to see that Chavis was not planning correctly for last year's bowl game, but he was obviously not properly engaged. Miles has been a defensive coach...should have seen it coming.

Personally, due to the money and the large number of coaching vacancies to fill, I 'd consider giving him another year....this last game will speak volumes.
AT least, he has not LOST THE TEAM.. which is a big plus.

2010 and 2011 were great years except for the finish in 2011
but thereafter
2013 10-3 (5-3 SEC)
2014 8-5 (4-4 SEC)
2015* 7-3 (4-3 SEC) TBD

Les has become something of a friend and I say that before I say this: I'll bet you money that whoever's next at LSU doesn't survive 11 years and doesn't go 110-32. I'll take the under on both of those for the limit.

This is almost a certainty.

Why do people not acknowledge this?

Because the past > present/future.... duh

Because the majority of sports analysts and everyone else looks at the past... "Ohio State is number 1 because they're the defending National Champs from last season."
Yes, I do believe they deserve a shot to defend their title (before their loss obviously), but they have not proven shite THIS season. Other than beating up on small schools that aren't any good. Thank god Michigan State beat them, because Ohio State would've got creamed by Bama if they were to meet up again.

Even outside of Ohio State... USC gets ranked up high every single season just because they're USC. There are other teams out there.
I mean, it's fun to speculate and in the offseason, that's all you have to go off of. But 7-8 weeks into the season and we still hear about tOSU's title run last season as the reason they're a great team this season

That's all I have to say... for right now..

Why stay stagnant?

Go ask theTennessee fans that had to get rid of Fulmer about this.

His conference record was 96-34 and that was with Spurrier at Florida.

Sorry, you would be mistaken. The statement has nothing to do with how LONG he coaches, but rather does have something to do with HOW he coaches.

Odds are Miles wouldn't sniff a winning percentage of .775 for whatever number of years he would remain at LSU either.

.615 last year and he could be lower this year since he was deprived of a win over McNeese.

Chavis was in large part responsible for Fulmer's departure.
