Van Pelt is under rated, that dude is butter. His narration of the shots is on point, and he does excellent interviews. He must be known as a good guy, all the golfers and other athletes he interviews seem less guarded in their answers because they think he’s a cool guy.
But I could be biased. Van Pelt was pure gold describing his experiences at LSU on the night of Alabama/LSU games. I’ve liked the guy since. His recollections of of the LSU fans singing “callin Baton Rouge and the band doing the three trumpet blasts to taken the field were great for LSUs brand.
I was just watching the Masters today listening to him and thinking his star is still rising.

This site’s obsession with this dude is one of the weirder things I can remember. That y’all love this guy so much because he said some positive things about lsu before. This thread is stupid and weird as frick

I've always like SVP, even before I knew about all the LSU positivity. He was one of the main guys talking about betting lines even before it was legalized, is usually pretty funny, and is significantly more watchable then the majority of the personalities on ESPN

You do realize that SVP worked at the Golf Channel for 7 years as a reporter and the #1 broadcaster before being hired away by ESPN ? Golf commentary is his passion that he excels at. IMO, he’s being handcuffed at ESPN with his late night Sports Center show
