I’m not sure Will is mentally ready for the bright lights of Friday nights against everybody else’s #1. Baby steps. He did great today moving from 3 to 2. But he doesn’t have a performance in him that Evans did against OU last week. Yet. It may be coming.

I think Schmidt will get there. But right now this team doesn't have an ace. Friday night guys don't leave after 5 innings. Evans and Schmidt can get there. I think Jay is limiting their innings for the stretch run/playoffs.

When Evans is locating his fastball and Will has command of his breaking ball they are interchangeable. I wish Will could get through innings throwing fewer pitches but the improvement from last year is leaps and bounds. Evans last Friday was Skenes' like, he struggled locating his fast ball against Kentucky. It happens.

I don't disagree. That's why I said he is improving. Coming out of high school it was known his control was suspect. Can't get buy with a high 90's fastball anymore.

Schmidt and Evans, when they are on, are both really really good.,
Schmidt has been more consistent.
Moore has been consistently good as well.

Evans has been shaky, at times and our bullpen has been inconsistent.

Would agree with everything you said.

We need Cowan right where he is. Need someone reliable in back end of the pen

If that's the case i'm fine with it but at least let him pitch twice over the weekend if possible. I know he wasn't pitching Friday being down7-2 you not going to burn him there. But Saturday you could of taken him out after the 6th and had him available for Sunday.

Jay has to maximize Cowan as best as possible.
