Sports writers have to attract attention to thier material. Readers/viewers equal job security.
No one ever tracks their accuracy.
I think the Tigers will win the super regional this weekend, the unfortunately that doesn't make it so.

I like Adams, but Mathieu is the single greatest defender in LSU history
Maybe not 'single greatest' but he's on the podium. I'm not sure I've seen many CFB players in my lifetime who could change a game as quickly as Mathieu changed games. And he did it with regularity his soph year. His nose for the ball was stunning.

Mathieu was a football player. He could run, cover, tackle, hit, catch, run and be elusive with the ball in his hands, and was and still is the most instinctive and smartest player on the field.
Same exact attributes could be said of Tommy Casanova who is still LSU's only 3-time All-American. Dr. Casanova played a great deal on offense as well as full-time on defense. He was also the best punt and kick-off returner in the SEC during his career resulting in being named the Sports Illustrated PoY. Having seen every game of both players, I will say that Mathieu is as good a playmaker as Tommy but not nearly as good a cover guy. Casanova played only six years in the NFL due to his medical career and yet was a 4-time pro-bowler and All-Pro. He retired from football at aged 27 as the acknowledged best defensive back in football. Mathieu is great and I'm a huge fan of his but he's not better than Tommy Casanova. Doubt anyone who saw both play would say otherwise.

glenn dorsey was borderline overrated. He is nowhere near TM7.
shite, Chad Lavalais had a better final season than Dorsey.

Mathieu has already been an All-Pro, which Casanova never was. His pro career will far surpass Tommy's. His sophomore season at LSU was better than any season Casanova had as well, by far.
