the coaches were probably playing favorites and didn't have PP out there when Scott and Murphy were carrying so that they wouldn't fumble...

I snuck into todays scrimmage and watched the last hour (just told the guy at the gate I was a gridiron club member ).

I agree 100% w/ Santa Clause's assessment. I missed the Hatch injury so only saw Lee and JJ. When Lee has time, he is on the money. He only looked bad when he was under pressure. He held the ball too long a few times and took a "sack" in 2 minute drill b/c he didn't get rid of it. A few passes were off but most were on target. He threw a quick slant TD to Byrd for about 12 yds. He threw a fade TD to Toliver for about 30 yds. Toliver beat Jai on the play and Jai raped and pushed him while the ball was coming to him but TT still went up and got the ball. He also threw a bullet 10 yd TD between 2 defenders to Murphy over the middle after surveying the field and coming back to Murphy just standing in the middle.

JJ is sooooo not ready to play QB. He's obviously got talent but just need reps. One thing that stood out is JJ was running a lot of option. True, option, not spread shotgun option. JJ was under center and ran option for a number of plays near goal line and don't be surprised if that might be one of he package plays. I also agree that his mechainics need some work.

Danny McCray was running w/ the nickel defense over Chad Jones. They played dime and both were out there but when the 1st team D went to two linebackers, Jones came out. Not sure if I like that.

Richard Dickson appears to be a favorite target of Lee. I didn't see many deep balls thrown in the hour I was there. Looks like a short passing offense.

On one play, LSU motioned Trindon in from WR and was going to hand off on the reverse and Jean Francois was in the backfield so fast he tackled Trindon as he was getting the handoff. Favorite and Jean Francois were running first team DTs.

Colt made all of his field goals I saw. The punters looked just ok to me. Dalfrey hit a 50 plus yard punt and Jasper hit one almost 50 yds. They had some shorter punts that concerned me at first but I believe they may have been trying to pooch it inside the 20.

Thats pretty much everything noteworthy that I witnessed.

How was the blocking by the backs in regards to protecting the quarterback. I'm watching the SEC Championship replay and I noticed a matador like block by Scott. The Tennessee DE leveled RP.

it appeared fine. I didn't focus to much on the RB blocking b/c there was no tackling so its hard to tell if a sack would have occured or not b/c they let up. No plays stood out where a RB obviously missed a block or anything like that.

How did Hatch hurt his shoulder?? I hope it was not a throwing injury. That would stink. Hope he fell or accidentally got hit.

I didn't see the Hatch injury. I got there about 45 minutes late and Hatch was nowhere to be found. Not even on the sidelines. I was hoping Santa Clause could let is know what happened to Hatch.

I also saw Chris Davenport at the game sitting near field level.

But, like i said, he could def be our running QB.

But, like I said, why do we need a running QB with all the running backs and fullbacks???

Because based on what I saw in todays scrimmage, LSU coaches want to be able to run the option, especially near the endzone.

nice. I like whoever is starting to get most of the snaps in preseason to go ahead and get going. I'm hoping Lee catches a nice feel and doesn't look back.

Did the Corners look shitty? I have to admit double digit completions in a row by a freshman qb make me a little nervous in that area.

Santa Clause said earlier that he was in gridiron club and althought he wasn't supposed to talk about stuff, he tried to give general info b/c fans have a right to know. He originally asked admins to delete post if too much info.

I was also at scrimmage and confirmed every word of Santa Clause. His assessment is dead on. However, unlike him, I'm NOT in gridiron club so I can say whatever I want about what I saw.

I just walked up the the stadium and walked in like I owned the place. The guy at the table w/ a clipboard got my attention and I said "I'm in the gridiron club, where do I go." He said "Oh, go to the elevators to stadium club." I wasn't sure if they were carding people or checking a roll up there so I just walked in stadium at ground level and sat w/ players relatives and watched over an hour of the scrimmage. Pretty sweet.

I'm not sure if they punted earlier in the scrimmage but I only saw about 10 or so punts at the end. Half of those they were just pooching w/ no return on. The rest I saw had Trindon for a few and I didn't really pay attention to who else.

Thanks for the info...sounded reasonable...only I'm hoping the part about JJ is a ploy to suck the AU spies into our web, so to speak...if Lee or Hatch get seriously hurt, we may yet need JJ before the year is over...with a little luck, this team is going to be in the hunt...
