He could've been a very good/All SEC caliber QB if last year was his first to start.

Both could have been quality QB's with an adequate QB coach. Lee and JJ have talent, but I am afraid they have suffered too long and developed horrible habits.

It's impossible to know at this point who will be the best option for the first game.

But you seem to agree it will be JJ.

I agree that it looks like it. . .based solely on reports from practices and scrimmages.

I was hoping Mett would come in and light it on fire. . .but I guess he isn't the anomaly I'd hoped he would be.

Not asking for Heisman, Top 50 would be GREAT with me. There was no style or substance from him last year. If he plays every play, LSU loses 4 games last season. That's substance to you?

Since the rankings usuall correlate to performance, I am going no on that one.

I was asking him.

His posts seemed to suggest he wants a more exciting passing game, no matter the cost.

Then you will disagree with the gentleman who started the thread, and was there...that Mettenberger isn't getting the same quality personnel to work with.

I think you know as well as I that JJ will be the starter.

In that scrimmage? Nope.

If JJ is the best option, which appears to be the case, he certainly will.

I think we both know JJ is being groomed to start game number one. Miles has stated his reasons more than once.

Because he is winning the competition?

That started before Mett signed with LSU.

The competition has just started, way to early to tell and yet you agree that JJ will most likely start.

It is a prediction.

I think so. In the spring. Remember how you bashed spring practice last year when JJ had a rough time....

Right, yet you believe JJ will start even before spring practice has ended. So do I, we agree. JJ is being groomed for the starting position from day one.

I think LSU will win the BCSCG next year.

I don't think they are having it given to them.

I still do.

But it is the only metric I have to base a prediction on.

What else would you suggest I use?

I guess you thought Lee was gonna start last year after spring? Nah, you didn't. You know, as well as I that the job is JJ's to lose. He would have to play horribly to lose it.

I don't have a problem admitting it, not sure why some people do. Miles himself has stated that JJ's ability to run gives a dimension he likes and prefers.

JJ will start unless he gets hurt or just does terribly. Playing terribly didn't cost him the job last year.

It did cost him some snaps, and to a QB that's just a bad as he is/was. This year, there is another option. Who knows if it's a better option or not? None of us.

Last year?

There was no open competition.

JJ was declared the starter from day one.

If it is, it is because he is leading the competition.

Now you are just being argumentative for it's own sake.

Wait. . .so if JJ does terribly, somebody else will start?

Playing terribly didn't cost him the job last year.
He didn't have anyone better behind him last year.
