Brandon also couldn't hit the blindside of a barn this game on third down.

SU averaged over 5 yards per 1st down rush.

So, on average you are setting up for a 2nd and 5

Average is not the key stat. Median would be better. A team that averages 5 per carry almost certainly got 15 or 20 on one play and got stopped cold on two or three others, along with other varying amounts. Very likely, they got less than 5 on the majority of carries, but a couple of long ones got the average up to 5. If the median carry were 5, then yes, your argument would make sense because you'd have 2nd and 5 or less the majority of the time. Averaging 5, you probably have more than 5 to go on the majority of 2nd downs.

Khan Jr.: Keep feeding Fournette until you have to throw the ball. Forget about any criticisms about being conservative in the second half against Mississippi State. LSU won the game, bottom line. Auburn isn't lighting up the scoreboard right now, so there is no sense in going away from a strength until Auburn proves it can stop it or LSU falls behind. this last part is important. LSUs system only works when LSU has a lead, but it has become quite common for that lead to slowly evaporate. Then when LSU has fallen behind, they decide to (predictably) start passing the ball.

We were a missed FG away from a loss.

We didnt score a single point on the final 4 drives of the game. Not 1. What did we do the final 4 drives of the game?

18 runs
4 passes

How much clock did we eat? 4 drives, 22 plays. That's a LOT of clock. Defense is relatively thin and tired. You have an elite RB and a good run blocking OL.

Honestly, we probably won because we committed to the run. If a drive had stalled out, say on a 3rd and 5 pass.. MSU doesn't have to play the clock and kick a long FG.
