How can you be in the SEC and have the 60th strength of schedule ranking?

ETA: this was a rhetorical question

Let me answer that for you anyway:

SEC Office doesn't want to take any chances. Bama in CFP or bust.

Today, Herman Edwards said that every game is a big game for Bama because everyone treats their game with Bama as their biggest game of the year. What a stupid thing to say. Does it make any difference if that other team is Arkansas State, ULL, or The Citadel?

Legit question for the OP:

IF you give credibility to Sagarin by citing his SOS ratings in which Alabama's SOS is 60 and LSU's is 6, aren't you (by default) giving credibility to his overall rankings in which Alabama is 1 and LSU is 8? It doesn't seem to me that you can cherry pick data from his model while excluding other relevant details.

Pay attention. We're discussing the reason why Alabama is ranked number one.

And none of this matters if you don't win.

I think you're missing the confirmation bias. You can't reference and validate a source (Sagarin) that claims Alabama's SOS is 60 without validating that LSU is the 8th best team in the country.

Do you believe both of the following?

Alabama has the 60th strongest SOS (or worse) in the country?
LSU is the 8th ranked (or worse) team in the country?

If you don't, you've instantly undermined Sagarin's algorithm and can't cite it as evidence of Alabama's weak schedule.

I personally think LSU's schedule has been significantly more challenging than Bama's, but that isn't enough to preclude Alabama from being considered the best team in the country at the moment.

Not sure of your need to validate one stat with another. The thread is about strength of schedule. That's all.

I'm not sure what all Sagarin and the computers rate but I'm sure there are quite a few of them that would raise eyebrows.

Bottom line, according to Sagarin's strength of schedule ranking for the College Football Playoff Top 10 your team has the worst ranked schedule of all the teams. Period
