Remember in 2002 we were 5-1 and mauck got hurt late against Florida.
I remember well. Season started miserably with flop @ VTU, then looked great against UF until the LSU coach had a brain fart & left Mauck in the game up 36-7 only to have him go down with a needless foot injury.

Had to go with Marcus Randall.
You mean the same coach that left Mauck in too long at the Swamp didn't have a top-notch back-up QB in this 3rd year on the job? How's that possible?
$aban is a great coach, just not the perfect decision-maker the $abanistas would have us believe.

When it is happening in third quarter of games yet to be decided is when it becomes an issue.
TROY of 2008, and La Tech last year are prime examples of this.

quote:Actually, I didn't really expect him to do that, so it was all gravy. I wouldn't even be on his arse if he had a team that looked good, competed hard every game, and ran a tight ship that looked like a real LSU team. For me it's not just the losses that bother me, it's the way he's running the team I think that sets the dangerous precedent, a precedent for mediocrity.
ans expected him to continue to win 10+ games a year and challenge for SEC Championships. That hasn't happened past 2 years and those who hate come out.

I agree with the way he is losing, I mean I wish Les would act more like he did against Tennessee in 06 and you could actually tell he was upset. His ho-hum attitude about so many things is a turn off for many fans. I personally like to see my coach get upset, get fired up, get in someones face on the occasion.
I think he does run a tight ship, he removes players that continue to show they do not want to listen. As much as people get on Les for way he handled RP, Saban would have given him slack as well.
Les is a great recruiter, by the numbers you could argue a better recruiter than when Saban was here. The players like him, he gets along with his players.
I have said time and time again, Les is a good coach, he may not be a great coach. He needs great coordinators but those are harder and harder to find because every NCAA football team is looking for that next Urban Meyer, Bob Stoops, and Jim Tressel.
I have problems when Ole Miss game happens, Saban had his share of mistakes the thing was you knew afterward those mistakes would not be repeated. Les does not give that same sense of competence that Saban did. That will always be Les's downfall the fans do not have faith he will right his mistakes, with Saban because he was so sure of himself and gave that impression it was easy for fans to trust him.

Fan base is weak when I go to Tiger Stadium against an SEC Foe and by the third quarter the stadium is half full.
The stadium is half full, because the product on the field has been pretty crappy lately. I, for one, have tired of seeing what an unprepared mess we are week after week. LSU deserves better.

I mostly agree. I think Les runs a tight ship as in discipline off the field, I just wish he would apply the same type of discipline on the field, this is what I was referring to.

Then you must have never gone with Hallman was the coach. If you are only going to support a team when they are playing great then that is bandwagonish

It isn't the amount of penalties that bother me it is when they happen. I mean LSU even under Saban was a penalized team but they were never to the point it cost LSU games. Here lately it is stupid penalties that have come at crucial times and cost us games.

This is my main gripe about Miles. I wish he would treat every game as the most important game of the season. Then we wouldn't come within a few inches from losing to Miss. St and La Tech. His "Its just another game" type attitude bugs me.

Please find anywhere in my post where I said I only support a team when they are playing great. You must have failed reading comprehension in grammar school. I simply gave a legit reason as to why people leave early. Didn't say I did, because I don't.
That said, Miles' teams are a mess. There are serious problems with LSU football that are apparent for anyone who cares to look ... and there have been for a while now.

Oh I am willing to bet you are one of those who left in middle of third quarter over the past 3 years. You needed to beat traffic I would guess, like many other ranters.

There hasn't been problems for "awhile" unless you would like to consider last year and 08 "awhile" which would be a couple.
What serious problems would there be as well? Recruiting is still high, character is still high, the program is still winning at a decent clip. The past 2 years have been rough and this is an important year for Les Miles but many of you act as Curly is out there and you have been going through losing seasons for 5 seasons.
