Apparently LSU fans easily forget that Saban left LSU to essentially have full control over a NFL organization.
Would anyone here not take a major promotion? He then realized that it simply wasn't for him, and only would have found that out by actually taking the position. He wanted to get back to collegiate football, and Alabama was a big time opening. If 'Bama had a head coach at the time, and the Texas job was vacant, he would have gone there, or to any other big D1 school that happened to have a head coaching vacancy.
This. I have never been upset with Saban for leaving for the Dolphins, or for taking tha Bama job. His coaching at Bama does not increase my desire to beat that team one scintilla.

be honest with yourself...
Saban was the man, in BR. QUickly becoming a prick doesn't erase that.
MIles has exceeded what Saban has done. Albeit, on a long winding road.

you can hear it in his voice. He knows he made a big mistake leaving. He was very complimentary of LSU just now.
Who cares. And I doubt it, I seriously do.

You LSU fans who keep harping on Saban are pathetic. To Saban, there's not 10 cents of difference between LSU and Bama. He didn't grow up pulling for either. The same is true of Les Miles, by the way. You idiots who think Les is loyal to LSU are kidding yourselves. These men are professional coaches we hire to help us win. They have the same loyalty to our schools that NFL players have to their teams. From the little information I have, they both seem like good men, but I could be wrong (see Joe Paterno).

No born in 72 graduated with honors from Catholic in 1991 graduated LSU four years later in 1995. Bad at math?

graduated college at 23. Four and half years, how is that held back?

Les Miles is about as loyal as they come. How that relates to the coaching front I don't know, but to even suggest that Miles and Saban are on the same plane regarding their loyalty is a stretch beyond anyone's imagination.

the repeated lies Saban told everyone about how he was not going to quit on Miami that year
He has to lie in those circumstances. Until the new job is a 100% certain you've got to lie because if it falls through, the knowledge that he was looking to leave would damage LSU. Les Miles told the same lies about not leaving LSU. It's just that in his case the Michigan thing didn't work out so he stayed. But he WAS considering leaving and he WAS lying by saying he wasn't. It's business. Sometimes I have to tell white lies to my clients and employees, too.

A couple of posters hit it on the head. A friend of mine sat in Saban's office at Bama and asked him why he left. Saban said that he made a list of demands to the owner and he met all of them. Saban didn't expect that. Not only did he have full control, but needed exactly 3 more years to draw an NFL pension. It wasn't something he wanted to do, it's something he had to do.

Everyone knew he was considering leaving and everyone knew that Michigan was his first love/dream job. Miles never said otherwise. He played the game, as you said, but to suggest that these two individuals are similar in respect to their loyalty, once again, is deluded.

Nobody is saying that. Everyone knew at the time he was given complete control from an owner that was very highly regarded at an NFL job that was top five in regards to NFL franchises at the time.
So I'm really not sure what you're saying.
