W4LSU,

Always good to have a 'hate Saban' thread, even though you didn't start it.

No, he doesn't deserve to be saluted by the fans in Tiger Stadium. Were he at any other school besides an SEC school, maybe. In 10 years if they honor the '03 championship team, maybe, if he's not at 'Bama.

But now that you mention it, I'm pretty sure he got plenty of one finger salutes!

That was very close to actually happening. When everybody at LSU thought Miles was going to take the Michigan job, LSU officials "secretly" brought both Saban and Spurrier into BR to talk about becoming the coach if indeed Miles left. Fact......

SABAN back to TIGER STADIUM
Will we ever see Nick Saban embraced for his accomplishments at LSU? Will he ever get a Tiger Stadium salute? I would like to see this happen...

Dude is GONE!!! Miles is entering his 5th year at LSU, and in that time Sabear has been with the Dolphins 2 years and is now an OPPOSING head coach within our own division in Tuscaloser.

Do I totally respect Sabear for bringing good times back to Tiger Stadium??? Absolutely I do. However, like I said above, he is at an opposing school within our division at one of the most despised schools among Tiger faithful, and for that I want to beat his team into the ground every time we play them. I would feel that way if Boy Shula were still there.

SO, to answer your question, there is no way on earth that Sabear will ever be able to be honored inside of Tiger Stadium for what he did here. Any chances of that happened failed when his plane landed in Tuscaloser and got kissed by that drunk Gump chick, AND his team stepped into our house last season and beat us.

Now, it's game on.

Coming back as coach of a pro team is a lot different than returning as the coach of a rival school, not to mention he wasn't all that well-liked when he was here, we just tolerated his shenanigans.

Bottom line with me is not the fact that he went to Alablama.I do appreciate what he helped to kick start but the fact is we are much better off with him gone because Coach Miles has only improved on what was started by him. Sabans constant BS and inconsistency were already wearing on fans and players and that debacle last second loss against IOWA and his great defensive mind was my nail in the coffin for him. I had no problem with him returning to the SEC,what really pissed me off was his proclaiming thats LSU"s success was do to him because those were his players, wrong ,wrong ,wrong.Do you think Saban sent Dinardo a NC ring, hell no because they were Sabans players lol,he's a fricking hipocrite who gonna keep talking smack cause thats all he has.So to you Prick Satan i salute you every morning with a masterpiece in your likeness in my toilet, given the chance again i will boo his sorry arse and prolly worse depending on my state of mind and liquor consumption ,GO TIGERS

Put me down for this option.

I'll give you the Bama slant. First, it was talked about as early as summer 2005 that Nick was our next target, That's the truth.

That's stupid. You were targeting a guy who was begining his second year at what he called his dream job? Will the undeserved arrogance of you guys EVER stop?

quote:

Bottom line, Bama was ready to win again. Win again big time. We dont feel like, in football, we should conceed anything just because. Similar to LSU in baseball. You almost feel a NC is expected. Thats Bama football. NC's are a way of life. Nothing wrong with that.

Except that LSU had last won a national title while current players could possibily have remembered it. BAMA's "glory" days were the 1970's and 60's. Which is clearly the problem with BAMA fans...expecting something they haven't done in ages. It's one this to expect to be in the HUNT for a tital...but to expect to win it (given the recent history of the program) is what ends up making a fanbase who is impossible to deal with. It will, in th end, be what drives Saban from Tuscaloosa. At LSU, we had expectations but he was able to tap them down into realistic ones. Since I've yet to meet a realistic BAMA fan, he either needs to live up to those expectations (which no one can...BAMA will never be "BAMA" again like it was) or suffer the consequences. Afterall...Saban won the SEC and a BCS bowl at "lowly" LSU in year 2. Seems he's underperforming at BAMA so far...

quote:

Never was a single conversation, thought, word or written article done on what the LSU fans would think.

Of course not...as far as BAMA goes. That is not the case as far as Saban goes. I know for a fact that he talked to several big LSU boosters with whim he still had ties and tried to explain his decision after making it. He thought he could smooth it over with the fanbase because of the past and you can clearly see how surprised he's been that hasn't happened. He way overestimated the power of his appeal.

quote:

We paid alot for Saban, yes, we are also expecting a lot from Saban.

How long's the leash? Again...a SEC Title and BCS bowl win in year 2 at lowly LSU. BAMA isn't going to snff that with a new QB in year 3. Does talk of "process" keep the fans at bay with a 9-3/8-4 type season this year, aftera being so tanatlyzing close to the NC game last year only to get drilled in the Sugar by a Mountain West team?

quote:

As far as what happens there with a salute to Nick I couldnt care less.

Good to know.

I don't think Saban is consistent enough to repeat what they did last year and he doesn't take critcism well. At some point when Bama is NOT winning championships (see LSU, Florida, Georgia standing in his way) the pressure cooker that is Bama will heat up and Nick will start getting pissy with the fans. I love the SEC!
