He runs for twice as many yards as he throws for in high school. His last two seasons his completion % was under 50%.

Somebody post his stats for this season.

He's very small for a QB, but has all the tools to be an amazing slot receiver/utility player.

He will only be used at QB as a change of pace. Deal with it.

I will admit, whatever yournameis, that Sheppard's measurements concern me. I've seen some footage from his JR year and have been tood my some knowledgeable people that he's every bit as good as Pryor, Perrilloux, and Young rolled into one. With these strong accolades, it's hard to fathom him being anything but the next Tiger great.

Well, he's not. He's not near the passer that Perrilloux was in high school. I don't know where you're getting your info from.

I can't speak for Young or Pryor, though, because I am not familiar with their high school careers. Unlike Sheppard, both of those guys have prototypical size for the QB position, though.

Does it matter? Why is the kid a 5 star recruit? You're making it sound like he's a bonified pansy. Few people have the arm that Perrilloux had out of high school. I have heard comparisons to Young and Pryor...good company if you ask me. Again, though, I am concerned about his height and the level of competition he plays at.

I will give you a hint: It's not because of his passing.

He electric with the ball in his hands. Seems like a Pat White clone, and if Pat White would have come to LSU, which he almost did, he would have been taking handoffs and catching the ball. Maybe running some read option.

Wrong. Pat White would have been competing against Jonathan Zenon for that left corner position.

That's Saban for you. And Brandon Jacobs would have been sacking quarterbacks.

True. I think Jacobs was the wrong call, but I don't think P White would have sniffed the qb spot at LSU. I bet he would have had a shot at returning kicks and punts.

He is actually more accurate than Flynn.

His completion% thus far is over 59% while Flynn's was at 56%.

Most of Lee's snaps have come against SEC competition. If you were to compare completion% in the SEC, I would bet that Lee would be even more accurate.

Horrible analogy. Why? Perrilloux was coming to a program that had J. Russell and Matt Flynn. Shep's coming to a program that has J. Lee and J Jefferson and Hatch. Do you think Lee is on Russell's level? Think before you answer that.

Lee is WAYYYYY ahead of Russell's level as a redshirt freshman, so the analogy is MUCH better than you give it credit for.

and Flynn struggled to make some of the plays Lee makes.

examples?

The 1st TD pass against Auburn, for one.

If you watch the games and don't think Lee makes some plays that Flynn couldn't, then I cant really help you there, if you cannot see that.

Jarrett,

Get to bed. Big day Saturday.

Yes, he is far more efficient than Russell and Flynn when they were his age. I have said that. You tell me your gut, though...you think J lee is going to be batter than Russell?

He's in a good system. We'll see.

Oh I agree with what you said, but my statement was in regards to someone saying it was a horrible analogy saying that RP had to sit behind Russell for 2 years, as opposed to Shepperd sitting behind Lee.

For a redshirt freshman who played at Auburn and at Florida, yes he has been VERY impressive, MUCH better then I expected from him this early.

Completing 59% of his passes, 8 TDs 5 INTs, in about 3 games, roughly. Not great, but not bad at all.

I know he had a horrid 1st half against Auburn, but ralling us back like he did with a SICK 2nd half performance against that Auburn defense, you don't think that was impressive?

Next year:

LEE>JJ>Shep>Hatch

JJ will be a better passer next year and will beat out Hatch for the number 2 spot. Hatch is a walk on back up and that is all he will be after this year. I think Shep will get on the field at slot and situational zone read option plays at QB.

It is way to much to ask for a true freshman to come into the SEC and start and think he is going to throw all over SEC defenses. Hell, Shep hasn't had enough experience throwing the ball at his high school and it is going to take at least a year before you see him throwing the ball for LSU.

personally, i think jj throws a much prettier ball than r.s. shep throws alot like vince young which is not a bad thing. with a little work he will be very dangerous at qb. however, after watching libscomb, i would love to make it a package deal. he looked very good.

No wonder we suck! Those guys are wasting time recruiting when they need to be fixing all these problems!

Both QB's Russell Shepard & Chris Garrett are enrolling in December & will take part in Spring Practice.
