Lots of guys make their living on special teams. Good for him, doesn't mean he was "misused" at LSU. James Wright is another guy doing the same thing, who should he have played over in his career?

He's made some nice plays in a preseason game after 3 years in the league, slow your roll a little bit before you put him in the hall and fire miles for the way Shep was handled

typical Miles tard. They tried everything. Really

Yes they did. Passes in space, jet sweeps, line up in the backfield.

He cleary has worked on the fundamentals of being a wr. While at lsu Shep was one of the worst route runners on the team. He would always lean in and out of his breaks and would tip his hand at what part of the route tree he was running. Gold rout runners make every single route look the same. You want your out route to look just like your 9 route. He also didn't have great hands.

And I'm talkin about his receiving skilss.

You're remembering him a bit too fondly. He has a lot of issues with drops. And yet he was a starter for nearly his entire career.

Yes. Outside of running the wildcat they tried getting him the ball every way you can to a player.

Listen. You have people on here sayin LSU tried everything. And that's a flat out damn lie! Russell Shepard played sporadically in his LSU career. It pissed him off with him sayin if he had known he would have never attended LSU. You have people sayin he was given every opportunity when it in fact Miles and co didn't know how to use him. He should have been used like the type of player that he is.

a scat back type! Line him up wherever and get him the ball in space to let him make plays. When they did that in some instances it worked and he scored only to go back to the bench and never be seen again. lol

But I am happy he is succeeding in the NFL.

And again, I'm happy for Shep. Glad to see guys do well in the league, it's always nice to see but good or bad it is not an indication of our football program. Just enjoy it for Shep, no need to find misery in something good

I'm just posting yo say I disagree with tubucco. I'm not a Miles apologist either.

No sense in debating. Congrats to him for NFL success.

Miles could pay for tubes next 3 generations to go to college and he would yell about how it's that kind of poor decisions that make miles the laughing stock of the country

No its not. They hand him the ball, passed it to him and ran jet sweeps. Outside of him lining up at qb they tried every way to get him the ball.

Holy shite. They ran him out of the backfield. Threw to him out of the backfield, threw to him at wr,and ran jet sweeps. They gave him even opportunity to make plays. If you can't see that, you don't know football.
It's not Miles' fault that lsu had better rb's than Shep and had better wrs than Shep.

He has 4 catches in two seasons. He's having a good night tonight in a preseason game, I hope he does well, but he's been hanging around by fighting for a job as a special teamer. He's still working on becoming a better receiver, I hope it works out for him.

You just said Shepard started most of his career. You are just as clueless as Miles! Honestly, how you hacks support this coachs incompetence, and come up with the excuses that you do are mind boggling. Anyone can see the amount of talent LSU has every season, but always find ways to self destruct. But you'll blame everything and anyone for the shortcomings except the right party(person). And then you will prepare for what should be a great redeeming season next year (is what you'll say). Only to have the same shite happen all over again! lol

but here's to this season. Go get'em Tigers!
