I think you can. It's not geared to be a run first system.
If you can pass well enough out of it to make Ds commit to stopping the pass, then I think you can run effectively from spread sets.
Example: Auburn 2019, I think on one drive we ran Clyde 4X and TD because Auburn had over-committed against the pass.
