Running Backs- Comparison: Present - 07

In the 2007 National Championship Year, Miles had a ton of talent and ubelievable deapth at the running back position: Jacob Hester #18, Keiland Williams #5, Trindon Holiday #8, Charles Scott #32, & Richard Murphy #26
Last year the tigers put up over 230+ yards on the Florida Gators Defense and we made them look silly on the ground.... and this year.. we are back and "locked and loaded" with what i think is a mirror image of the 07' talent in the backfield: here are some comparisons to similar styles of play by our RBs
1. Kenny Hilliard - Jacob Hester
2. Alfred Blue (out) - Keiland Williams
3. Michael Ford - Tridon Holiday
4. Spencer Ware - Charles Scott
5. Jeremy Hill - Richard Murphy
I think the Tigers will cotrol the clock and if we keep the turnover margin in our favor, we can rack up some yards on the ground this weekend

We also lost two games that season.

Agree whole heartedly. Lost in the Kentucky beat down is Kentucky with less a passing threat than us was consistently gashing the Gators D on the ground. On several occasions in the first half at least the moved the ball between the 20's with ease then bogged down in the red zone. Could be an excellent day for Michael Ford

Hilliard has more burst than Hester, but Hester seemed to churn his legs better. Could have been a product of better blocking.
Blue and Keiland is fair, except for the fact that Blue actually got snaps
Ford and Trindon is a huge stretch.
Ware and Scott is fair.
Hill is a bigger, stronger back than Murphy.

Comparing Trindon to Shep would be more accurate. I also think Jeremy Hill has much more upside than Murphy did.

the reason i used ford in place of trindon is just because of the way we utilize him in a sense of the "Speed Back" looking to catch the defense on their heels but i agree either Ford or shepard could go there, i was just thinking strictly in therms of RB's

if we are comparing them as far as style and body structure
i would say
kenny hilliard-keiland williams
Alfred blue- richard murphy
Michael ford - tridon
spencer ware- combo of charles scott and jacob hester
jeremy hill-havent seen enough of him but probably a combo like ware

Blue is on another level than murphy was in terms of productivity though

2. Ford - Keiland Williams
Ford has better accelerationa and agility than williams did.
just my way of seeing it i guess

Jeremy Hill - Cecil the Diesel

Hilliard-Scott
Ford- Williams
Hester-Ware
Murphy based on his game production about the same on the ground as Mettenberg

i admit this is a bit of a stretch and Shep could easily fit in here... and then bump Ford to Richard Murphy

See Murphy was hurt most of his career, but Murphy and Blue both have similar quickness to the edge. Blue is better btw the tackles, and a better comparison would be Addai.
I don't disagree with you about ford, but neither did much running between the tackles. They play a similar roll in the offense with toss plays and options.

LSU's current stable is head and shoulders above the 2007 crew.

??? how do you not see
Ware = Hester
Hilliard = Charles Scott (power) / Keiland (due to speed)
Ford = Trindon (catch the edge)
Alfred Blue - (More polished Richard Murphy prior knee injury)
Ware is the more pigmented version of Hester.

Ford and Keiland is about as similar as they get. They both seemed top heavy and easily got their legs taken out from under them though. Similar vision too.

Hester had 1000+ yards that year... the only one to match that kind of production would be Hilliard, or Blue(pre-injury)
*with alfred blue i would agree with you
