People are to stuck on roles and labels. Just because Shep is a "WR" doesn't mean he only goes on 10 yard outs, skinny posts, and go routes. In fact, he doesn't even really need a position. He is the type of player that you make a decision to get the ball too on 5-10 touches a game. You can mix it up with a reverse, a few quick screens, a couple of hand offs, a 10 yard out, and a trick play. This would have added a nice wrinkle to the offense. Oregon does this with Thomas. The saints did this with Reggie and Sproles. Florida did it with Harvin.
Just because he is a wr on the depth chart doesn't mean he just absolutely has to be stuck running the route tree.
Exactamundo! But that requires creativity in the offense. Does anyone here believe we have it. Maybe once, the TE sceen against Bama.

Shep might be faster, but not by much, and those other guys are better running backs, so a slight edge in speed doesn't necesarrily mean better
Who said he should have been used as a RB. Think creatively my man. Look above for some ideas on his use.

Another wasted LSU offensive player

What the frick are you blabbering about?
Link to where anyone wants Shepard to fail. We have tons of examples of people in this thread alone that only want him to succeed because of some irrational miles hatred. Which is sad and pathetic. But not surprising giving the recent shittyness of the lsu fanbase.
What a stupid post.

I guess blind hatred of one man can make you post stuff that makes absolutely no sense.
What in the statement is not true. Can you see Percy Harvin having the role he had at Florida at LSU under Miles based on what you have seen so far? If so I believe blind is the word that reflects on you more so.

Harvin was a swole house. He certainly would have received more touches from the backfield. Shep didn't play much because he couldn't block or catch. They should have kept him at rb.

There probably aren't many places that Harvin would have had the same role as he had at Florida.
I'm not a big fan of Miles offense either, but that doesn't mean he is the only one that would have used him different.
Some of you people are so short sighted that you think RS getting good reviews reflects poorly on Miles. I think it reflects more one the talent that was ahead of him.
I would like to have seen more of him too, but there isn't a coach out there where I've agreed with all that they do. Doesn't mean those coaches suck or even made the wrong decisions, just means I have a different opinion.

Even Peterson wasn't used in the return game until his last year. The reason is because of bad decision making.
Or maybe it's because we had Chad Jones and Trindon Holliday......
Christ, I guess LSU should just fire the entire staff and allow the rant to coach from behind their computers.

I was wondering why no one had said this yet.
Also, using the logic that some here are using, with the lack of playing time the Trindon is getting in the nfl, does that mean Miles overused him?
Those coaches in the nfl must lack creativity.

He did not start out that way. He came to Florida at 6' 1" 188 lbs. RS10 was 6' 1" 179. Both listed 4.4 forty.

Harvin is barely 5'10 breh
Posted on 1/19/13 at 12:54 pm to justustm2
It didn't take him long to get to 200 where I still don't believe shep is 179

I never stated such. My discussion was the fact that LSU's offense shows very little if any creativity. It leaves little room for scat backs.
Do you disagree that LSU's offense is pretty low on creativity. And that the use of Harvin at Florida required more creativity than what LSU has shown.
Did you see Stud's offense at Bowling Green? You do know he worked for Meyers, right?

Who are the losses to? I rest my case. 90% of wins against shitty teams doesn't = great coaching.
Last time I checked, LSU still plays in the SEC and 49-19 vs SEC is bout as far from "shitty" as you can get.
85-21 while you play in the SEC and compete vs outside SEC top programs regularly is a "great" record.
Your "case"...is dismissed cause of your "shitty" evidence.

I don't know much about Percy Harvin before attending UF

Since I didn't follow recruiting around 8 years ago my opinion is clearly null and void and means nothing. My continued frustrations with a bland, ineffective, and sophomoric offense hold no water bc Harvin was believed to be not only great, but amazing, similar to those same people's opinions on Shep when he was the same age as Harvin.

Not stepping into the convo on how or why he was used or not used...
Just know this...he DOES NOT & HAS NOT looked good in today’s game.
Could be uncertainty.
Could be nerves.
Could be unfamiliarity.
I truly hope he makes it but have not been impressed with him so far.

I don't know which "positigers" are rooting against Shep, and the only ones that seem to think Shep doing well reflects poorly on Miles are the normally negative fans.
