We knew the committee wouldn't be kind after giving up the last national seed. Houston is virtually tied with us on RPI and we have the most difficult 4-seed when you factor-in the quality of their ace pitcher.

Ours is so low because of RPI 196 Siena.

Edit: If you only count the top 3 seeds it comes out as

Rice (58)
LSU (61)
Virginia (64)
Miami (67)
Indiana (68)
Ole Miss (69)
Florida (74)
South Carolina (74)
TCU (76)
Oregon State (77)
Lafayette (78)
Vanderbilt (80)
Florida State (83)
Louisville (86)
Cal Poly (88)
Oklahoma State (89)

The NCAA is a joke. Big 10 is a weak conference in RPI and they reward their best team with such an easy regional.

So is every team playing in the Baton Rouge is theoretically "hot" right now being they all won their conference tournament? Right?

Their 4 seed, Youngstown State, has an RPI of 271.
Their 3 seed, Stanford, has an RPI of 45.
Their 2 seed, Indiana State, has an RPI of 21.

Their number gets inflated because of their 4 seed being absolutely horrible.

Bonus: Youngstown State has a record of 16-36.

How the hell does anyone get into postseason play with that kind of record?

Everyone is worried about the quality of pitcher argument, but even Strasburg wasn't enough to get his shite team over the hump against a quality opponent.
