Great Show, LSU!!!

OK, those of you who were here in Omaha, tell me your honest opinion. Is Rosenblatt such a miserable place that Omaha should tear it down? The new stadium they are building will be shiny and new, in the midst of giant concrete slab shared with the convention center. You'll apparently have a view of the Omaha skyline (God I hope they don't get it backwards so you see the lead-cleanup area and the nasty Missouri River!) They could have renovated Rosenblatt for $35+ million LESS than the cost of the new facility. The mayor pushed this through without a public vote, being held hostage by the NCAA. It goes without saying, he did not run for re-election!

I love the vendor stands and tents all scattered throughout the Rosenblatt area. I love the green trees all around and the zoo desert dome over the right field wall. I love the colors of the stadium. I just can't imagine having the interest in a cookie-cutter stadium in North Downtown. You can't recreate the charm of Rosenblatt. But maybe I'm just old and sentimental.

If you are trying to get to that area of town when there's something at the Qwest, God be with you. I simply can not imagine the nightmare of concurrent concerts and CWS. You think 13th Street is bad by Rosenblatt, wait for this!

I loved Rosenblatt and the surrounding festivities. I also thought that access and egress were convenient and easy. The authorities in Omaha really knew how to maintain order and maximize everyone's enjoyment (especially ours). Thank you so much for hosting such a wonderful event. Hopefully, I'll be back next year.

no more GA. most families wont be able to afford it. i went ride by the new site and your correct in "concrete with a jungle 3 blocks north". you won't be parking in those yards for $10 a game.i chatted with a few local in the GA line and it seems that no one was in favor of it, but the NCAA gave them no choice.

I think we should have called the NCAA's bluff. I don't think they'd have moved the CWS. There was another option to renovate Rosenblatt (I think the big deals are more restrooms, real bullpens, more room in the concourse...), and it would have been much cheaper.

There is an over-riding political agenda here to revive the riverfront, to not let it degrade further. The politicians USED the threat of losing the CWS to do this. The meetings were all done behind closed doors. The people who don't go to baseball games were all brainwashed into believing that we'd lose the CWS if we didn't do this, and we can't keep pooring money into Rosenblatt. Those who have actually been to Rosenblatt know the difference.

Now, we'll be footing the bill for a brand new stadium used for 2 weeks out of the year. The Omaha Royals are having their own, smaller stadium built SW of the Omaha Metro. No one can afford the rates that the city wants for using the new place, not the Royals, not Creighton University... So it's gonna sit empty outside of the CWS. It will be a big, concrete tomb for baseball.

Then there's the fact that the Olympic swim trials are going to overlap, I believe the very first year. The trials will be at the Qwest, drew enormous crowds last time. God save you guys trying to drive to the stadium. I work in the downtown area, and I'm dreading it!

The parking at the Qwest and new stadium - you have to pay the parking fee even just to go in and buy tickets. It's all about money there.

I WISH THE TEAMS INVOLVED WOULD PETITION THE NCAA TO NOT MOVE IT! They can still fill in the hole in the ground, nothing has been built so far!

This was my 5th trip to Omaha for the CWS and I love Rosenblatt. People who have never been just don't have any idea of what it's like. Baseball is the one sport where tradition and the love of the game still prevails. No matter what the NCAA or anyone else says it won't be the same. I plan on going back next year for the last year probably whether LSU makes ir or not. I'll probably go for the 1st year in the new stadium, just to say that I saw it and that'll probably be it. Oh, I'll probably go again but only when LSU plays. I have talked to many other fans who feel as I do. You have a lot of people who go to the CWS even if their team is not playing. Why? Because of the Rosenblatt experience. I don't think it will happen with the new downtown stadium. I took a ride to see the new site and I'm not impressed at all. The CWS needs Rosenblatt. I really feel that the NCAA dropped the ball on this one.
