they wont if the o line dont show up. and we gonna have a 2 back system
Posted on 5/7/10 at 10:36 pm to Smitty55
Ford will be the main guy with Ridley also getting a chunk. Murphy will once again be odd man out.

and what has ford done to earn the spot. tell me please cuz unless u seen into the future to see wat is to become. im not giving a freshman majority of the carries until do something in a real football
not practice or a spring game

Ford is a big back who looked good in spring. And Ridley has experience. Murphy is not the type of RB that Miles seems to enjoy.

I still think Murphy could be the best running back on the team - if his coaches would wise up.

I think he is one of the many underutilized talents on the team the past few years.

I just said i dont go by spring, and after last season and how Les Miles seems to stumble wen the pressure is on, Im not really trusting his decisions lately.

Thank u, i dont believe they have used murphy to his best ability yet. And i dont mean change his position to receiver.

Smitty, are you Richard Murphy or related to him...
Posted on 5/8/10 at 12:35 am to deuce985
no im not him and im not related to him. i played football with him. i want to see him do well. now i didnt mind him playing behind charles scott and keiland williams becuz they had a yr of experience over him since they redshirted him. now that its his time to show what he got and everyone wants to give to a damn freshman and a player that would never had played last yr if the first 3 runningbacks had not gotten hurt

IMO... Ridley and Ford will be the main two backs in the system. They fit this idea of commitment to the run that Miles seems to emphasize this year. If you're looking for a ratio of carries, I figure it'll look something like this:
Ridley : 35%
Ford: 35%
Murphy: 25%
Jefferson: 5%
FWIW, I don't think Ware redshirts. With Hilliard and Hill coming in next year, our backfield is going to be about as talented and as crowded as you'll ever see at any level of football. Definitely a problem that every head coach wishes he had.. but I can see it causing a problem with dividing carries down the road.
He'll probably get most of his carries in garbage time though.

IMO Ford will have the bulk of the load by mid season.. He is a better all around back!! Murphy then Ridley...
Ridley had only impressed a few times.....I will still give me some room to improve...right now I list them like this
Murphy
Ford
Ridley

And he has yet to face the same competition as Ridley and Murphy....

Murphy is an undersized back without the speed to go with it. He doesn't run like Reggie Bush or Chris Johnson, so why do people keep comparing him to guys like that. He's got an upright style of running and he tries to bounce everything to the outside, but doesn't have the speed to get there, not to mention he's coming off of an injury. Ridley and Ford should be our 1 and 2 RBs and it's not even close. Ware should RS barring injury.

Steven will kick arse this year. He is not just an inside runner. Moves quick laterally and has great exeleration. He can bounce one outside in a second. (bama) He also showed his recieving skills out of the backfield. (ark)
Ridley will be a top 3 back in the SEC this year. He's also a prototype NFL back. JMHO
Not this shite agian! Ridley is not and never will be a "prototype NFL back"! Everyone said the same thing about CS but he is just too slow and Ridley is even slower!
If we have to rely on Ridley and Murphy we are fricked!

no one said he was reggie bush or chris johnson, but he is the most versitile out of all the backs. As much as i root 4 murphy, i agree he does try 2 bounce it to the outside too much, but that come with experience in the game wich is hard since they olny had put in 2 or three plays a game before he got hurt. Look im just sayin that there is no way that freshman at the beginning of the yr. And if murphy preduces like i know he will, ford will be the third down back
Posted on 5/8/10 at 1:17 pm to Smitty55
Murphy and Ford will rule the run game.....Ridley good 3rd down back!!! :beatdeadhorse:
Posted on 5/8/10 at 1:17 pm to Smitty55
and im pretty sure we were fricked wen we didnt have a starting running back and had to 2 put a full back in the backfield. O wait we won the nation championship didnt we hmmmmm. im not worried until start only gettin 3 yrds a carry
