Redden and Blanton were arguably the 2 most important pieces of that 86 final 4 team. On second thought, Big John was clearly the best player, but those 2 were right after him.

He made me throw up multiple times at his basketball camp when I was young... Legend

Yes, absolutely. He had to play out of position (Center) many times and did very well holding his own against some of the premier Centers in the game at that time. When he was able to play forward, he was a beast. He was a integral part of the 86' Final Four team.

Probably the best all around player in LSU history, imo. Played way out of position in 86 at center. He was able to play point forward, small forward and big forward positions. Real good defender, good passer, and by the end became a fairly good 3-point shooter.
For the record, I was not a fan of Chris Jackson. Great scorer but to me took way too many shots without running offense. I feel Chris Jackson probably stole some of Blanton's stats his senior year.

Pretty much. Once he was moved back to forward though his stats basically took off.
Jr 17.0 pts, 8.8 rb, 3.6 ast, and 1.1 st a game
Sr 20.3 pts, 8.2 rb, 4.6 ast, and 1.5 st a game
40%+ career 3-point shooter, career 53%+ shooter... average more assists his last two years than Chris Jackson who was handling the ball.
Hard to argue the Pistol but Ricky to me was LSU's best all around player as far as being able to move to different positions. Great team player.

quote:of course not, but playing center in an NCAA Regional Final against the perceived best post player in college basketball and holding his own and winning the game is legendary. So was winning the Georgetown game in the dome before 62k on a put back.
so that’s all that’s required to be a legend?!?
Legend confirmed

Yes they played together on the 86 Final 4 team. Redden was the MVP of that regional.

CJ took so many shots because early in that season Dale pulled him aside and said "We are gonna need you to score more." Up to that point CJ was unselfish. Dale gave him the green light.
