Rose Bowl Tips (after Week #0)

The key to a great day at the Rose Bowl:
DO NOT get stuck in all day at the bars in Old Town. Maybe a late breakfast/early brunch but then get into the Arroyo asap.

If you're not going to the planned LSU pre-game, just get a spot on the golf course that surrounds the West and North ends of the stadium. It's the best tailgate spot in America (ok, for an off-campus stadium!?!)

Bring a lunch picnic, BBQ, tons of booze (Moonshine? or that's the Vols...sorry), soak up the sun, the San Gabriel Mountain backdrop, the Granddaddy of 'em All.

Plan to get inside the Stadium on the early side, before or by 5 pm latest.

Mobile tickets seem to slow down the process vs. paper tickets in years past. Security lines are longer the later you wait. .There are metal detectors and they will search you and your bags thoroughly, so be careful what you smuggle in.

The clear bag policy allows you to bring in sealed water bottles, and typically enhancing your water bottle with something strong is a solid idea.

You will need to wear your mask from the time you get in line, all the way in to your seats. There is zero enforcement of the mask policy in your seats, and certainly not when eating or drinking. Just keep an open water bottle on your lap and stay hydrated!

Beer sales are great, first year since '89. 24 ounce ice cold cans of Coors Light, Dos Equis, and 805, a nice San Diego ale. Beer stands all around and walking down the aisles too!

Stay safe, have fun, and let's hope for a good game!

And to you all still in Louisiana, all the best in the cleanup and getting life back on track after IDA

First of all, welcome. Hope you hang around after the game. This website picks up a lot visiting fans who stick around after we play due to the easy nature of posting, good natured banter and variety of boards to post on.

2nd..

but we do get up and turn out for these big games

Come on now.. UCLA/OU 2019

Before the storm i was expecting 20k+ Tiger fans to make the trip. Not sure now. Guess I'd be thrilled to see 15k still make it out there. Either way they should be loud and proud, great for your restaurant/bar industry, great tippers and represent our fanbase whether 5k or 25k.

you know have not lost to an SEC Team this century

Actually did not know that.. however LSU hasn't lost til a Pac10 team since 1979 vs #1 USC in Tiger Stadium
And a very controversial loss at that.

Finally- hope you do indeed make the return trip to 2024. Hell with all the realignment/alliances etc I hope that game stays on the schedule.

Sadly I’m not attending the game but I really appreciate stuff like this. Hope y’all have a good time and I’m glad to see some coming together from both fan bases. GEAUX TIGAHS

I'm hoping I can leave MSY tomorrow afternoon. If not, it will be Thursday morning. Ida kinda threw a monkey wrench into my plans.

Looks like beautiful weather for the game. Looks like it will be in the 70's for game time. Wanted to go to this one so bad but all this Covid shite I didnt pull the trigger. I am going to Costa Rica and going surfing instead. Anyway

is this the stadium staff this slow? even if we bring 20k, added to your 10-15k(based on what it looked like on Saturday,) still not much of a crowd to process

I thought it was going to be around 90 at gametime? Dropping into the 70's later.

REL. OU. True true, no doubt. when we suck, no one shows up, especially as a double-digit Dog. There is genuine energy around the program for the first time in quite a while, plus playing LSU is a hell of a lot bigger to us than OU.

Another thing NO ONE mentions when looking at our early crowds: UCLA is on the quarter system. School starts at the end of September.

NO students are on campus until then, hence there were about 750 students braving the 120-degree heat on the sunny side at 12:30 pm Saturday.

We still won't have a big student turnout Saturday, they just aren't around. And the stadium is still 19 miles from campus. Not an excuse at all, just facts.

Even when we won 8 straight bowl games in the '80s, that was a factor until late september.

The upside? Our kids aren't distracted by school and class issues the first 5 games. Jim Mora's teams were notorious for getting off to 5-0 starts, then the losses piled up when school started. (yeah, we do take that school stuff pretty serious over here).

It maybe be warm at kickoff, but with the setting sun, it will be very comfortable. Once the sun settles behind the mountains to the West, it'll be an extremely nice evening.

slower than last year, with all tickets on Phones, going thru security, checking all see-thru plastic bags.

That said, this is the Rose Bowl, there are 90,000 seats, and every gate is open all around the stadium. It's not like 2-3 entries with an hour wait. It will go slow with all the security checks, tickets, etc.

There will be 60,000, give or take. and as noted, we have ZERO students on campus for a month, before you all continue mocking the small crowd for a 12:30 August start during a Pandemic / heatwave game vs. Hawaii

Did anyone else read this in Musburger’s voice?

I really wish he was calling this one.
