But we do want the next coach to give all efforts to run a CLEAN program. I could see where in some cases, it would be easy to run afoul of the NCAA and commit MINOR violations, but he cannot commit OBVIOUS violations.

Stupid frick, eh? Look, I could care less what Drew did, and I could care even less if LSU hires him; I'll support him. I just don't think Alleva is gonna pay 2.5 mil to a guy right after this stuff comes out. Now, he might be a bargain given he probably would want to get away from Baylor if there's fire where the smoke's coming from. And by the way, if you have time to read every post on the thread, I envy your having nothing better to do than sit and read 140 posts.

These were literally the last three posts preceding your initial post...

The word is the NCAA will accept Baylor's self imposed sanctions. 2 of the violations are not violations anymore.

Dude, Drew isn't getting fired. In fact, the worst violations were from Mulkey recruiting Griner. She getting fired, too?

Also, this has been known. They self-sanctioned months ago.

It's looking like Jones fella's. All our speculation is just going to make it worse when it's official.

Why? Far be it from me to deprive a kid from a little spending money and an extra meal or two for his efforts to earn the school millions.

College BBall is a dirty game now adays. We have been squeaky clean for the past four years. Im ready to win.

That we shouldn't be getting our hopes up basically.

Our football team has committed worse violations than what is happening at Baylor.

Drew would be an amazing hire, but I'm not counting on it happening. Not that it is essential in college basketball, but he's done pretty well recruiting Louisiana. Jones could be good eventually, just not someone that the hire alone gets people excited.

No rumors yet. Everyone I ask and some are involved with the BB program either do not know or are mum, I did hear however that Dale is pushing hard for his boy Johnny.

Yeah well someone gave me more insight tonight. Doesn't sound promising if you, as I am, are against the Jones move.

I agree with you but the comments I received tonight seemed to have a level of finality to it. Didn't say Jones, but intimated as much.

No clue. Hope my inference is completely wrong based on what I was told but no reason for it not to be.

That blows. I was at least hoping Jones would be a 2nd tier candidate. I don't mind the hire, I just hope the hire is a result of other candidates saying no.

He's a high risk/high reward type hire. For whatever reason, I believe he would "fit" here. He played here. He's been an assistant coach here. He knows Louisiana.

If he weren't a good fit, and you look at this hire outside of his connections to LSU, this hire is mind-numbingly stupid. We paid Trent 1.5 million. What are we going to pay a coach who hasn't really built anything more than a middling mid-major program?

I had only heard it from the board and deduced that it was being leaked by ponamsky and people to prepare us. But until now I didn't think it was pretty much wrapped up.

I'll support the guy but if he doesn't land damn near every single recruit in LA I want Big Collis and Daddy Dale to remove themselves from this program.

My impression is Brown and Temple made their opinion and support for Jones known very early to Alleva. I'm afraid we've simply been killing time since then so it looks like a search occurred.

I would've been ok settling on Jones. Disappointed that it appears we targeted him.
