Remember when Kelly predicted that LSU was one year away from being a playoff contender?

I had faith in Kelly making LSU a playoff contender next year, in 2024, because he hit such a huge home run with the LSU offense, with both the hires and the recruiting offensively. Most of us were wrong in regards to judging Kelly’s choices on offense, and we were all wrong regarding how well this LSU offense would produce.

Only now my faith has disappeared like a puff of smoke just as yours has. Especially when we look at LSU’s defensive players and coaches who can’t recruit and can’t coach.

Looking at LSU now, I see a glass that’s half full and half empty, and I don’t see how Kelly can fulfill his promise to us of LSU being a playoff contender next year, when I view that glass. Too much improvement is needed in LSU’s coaching and recruiting. Kelly surely knows this too, at least we all would hope so. Can Kelly work similar magic next year with the defense?

Won’t say that Kelly can’t get it done with the defense because he’s already proven us wrong with the offense but I’m definitely not expecting it to happen next year as he predicted. . Would have to see who Kelly hires and recruits on defense to have any faith in what he predicted and we won’t truly know much until spring when more transfers arrive.
