It isn't automatic that the top 16 host and you didn't compare any resumes.

all we have to do is be close. Our bid will probably be the best bid of any team in the country.

LSU will host if they make it to the championship. NCAA cant pass up the money maker that is Alex Box

THIS! We have hosted before and not been a # 1 seed at our regional. It happens because of $$$$! You bid on how much you would bring to the NCAA. It is NOT about RPI only!

Please compare our overall record, SEC record, and SEC finish to the years that we hosted as a two seed in this format.

You could host as a 3 or 4. it is all about the $$$ and how we finish strong in the Tournament. If we go in and not lose and look like we did early, I will lay it down now that we host. In fact, there is no such thing as SEC champions of the "regular season". 41 wins, plus the SEC Tournament title, + 19 wins in the SEC (tournament counts in win totals). plus all of that money, we host.

1. It isn't all about the money. If it is why are we even having this discussion?

2. You didn't make any of the three comparisons.

sorry we hosted and we were 41-19-1, 20-9-1 in SEC. being 15 - 15 in a conference with 7 schools going is probably not that bad considering the streak and no AR. if he gets back strong and we do what I said - run the table we will host as a #2

LSU hasn't been on the road for a regional since 1989.

Twice they just didn't make the tourney. Because of the amount of fans, money, etc. the box is one of those places that the NCAA likes to see host because it looks good for the sport on TV. If it is close between them and another school (right or not) LSU will host.

Ok, 20-9-1. Did we finish 7th or 8th in the league?

Money and fans do not carry the weight it used to. You have to have a legitimate resume. We don't, especially compared to other teams in our conference that will also be under consideration.

Facilities are a big factor. we have the best in the SEC. Ole Miss is nice and so is Fla and Tenn. AU is not. the only way they host is if they are a national seed. SC has a nice park.
I agree that if we do not win out, we do not host.

Lol....With teams such as UConn, UC Irvine and Louisville probably hosting, the NCAA is going to give a host site to a team like LSU who will put in the LARGEST bid of any team in the country.

Why do you think the NCAA basketball tournament is expanding ? Why do you think they have the Bowl games instead of a tournament style in football...

Teams like Irvine and UConn hosting is evidence that money doesn't carry the weight it used to. Basketball and Football are irrelevant, but even to that point Im sure you realize the NCAA has Jack shite to do with bowl games.

To the other poster, nobody in the SEC would be considered to have inadequate facilities to host. All o the teams in the discussion have hosted before. That point is also irrelevant.

I am not an AU fan, but you are wrong about their ballpark- they have one of the best college ballparks in the nation

Seriusly? In a sport that when on tv needs to look good that is all they have. You don't think the NCAA wants to see the LSU takeover in Omaha so other fans see that and want there team to be a part of that. LSU IS the life blood of college baseball (with maybe Texas) and the NCAA wants to see them their.

So the basis of your argument has absolutely nothing to do with baseball, the season , teams' accomplishments, etc....?
