Houston? Sooo..... why? We gotta go home and see the folks or something?

if you cannot figure out the answer to that, then God help you. It might just have something to do with recruiting, though.

In the 1930's, but that's pretty much it.

...and people think you're lying when you tell them they didn't win their first SEC championship until Steve Spurrier brought one to G'ville. UF was medicore at best until SOS arrived in Gainesville.

"peopleschamp" said Florida was a doormat, before 1992. Not exactly true is it?

Dormant as a title contender? Very very true. Head to head competition says nothing about what they did on the larger stage. Since we're speaking within the context of being "elite" it's very accurate to say that Florida was dormant prior to Spurrier. It simply does not matter how many times they beat a particular team, no matter the team.

LSU was 4-5-1 against them in the 80's. You already had 2 losses by 1983.

I think you're trying to fully leverage our pride. Unfortunately, how anyone does against one team, even ours, doesn't make them generally successful and certainly doesn't vault them into elite status.

Not sure how much you know about college football history, but Tulane was once a powerhouse. Yes, Tulane.

That was kind of my point. To give some historical context that goes beyond the last 20 years. Florida never approached a title while Tulane was winning them. Many people have a hard time seeing those programs in anything other than modern terms.

pdxlsufan. GFY. LSU is a elite fricking program with plenty of money and great facilities we don't have an elite coaching staff but that may well change this year. You are dumbass of incerdible proportion.

LSU was super awesome elite in the 80s. Remember how we totally pwned those allegedly elite Nebraska teams in the Orange Bowl and two Sugar Bowls???

Yet according to the rantards, our eliteness was firmly established during the first 3 years of Miles' tenure.

Yes, Florida was mediocre until SOS arrived and they skullfricked the entire SEC. And then resumed so a few years ago under Meyer (albeit not quite as impressive in the regular season as SOS' reign of terror but with one more national title than SOS). It's the way Florida dominated that is so impressive. And even when they were mediocre in the 80s, as another poster noted, LSU couldn't dominate Florida. Year in and year out, Florida is on a higher level than LSU.

LSU fans can't admit that anyone is better than us. We can't accept that this year Auburn is better than us. Beating Florida this year doesn't make our program better than Florida any more than Miss State's win over Florida does.

The reality is LSU just finished the last decade as a very close second to Florida, in the best conference in the land, and that along with two national titles the last seven years does make them elite in a 12-team lead. Hell, that makes them elite nationally. 'Bama is back there as well but Au has not earned that recognition yet. Can LSU sustain elite status if the current coaching problems aren't corrected? No. Time is running short but they haven't fallen from the mountaintop just yet.

So you admit LSU is second to Florida? I'm shocked and awed.

This is what happens when an intellectually dishonest person can't defend his position. Make subtle, or not so subtle, changes to it and pretend you haven't. The OP asserted that LSU has never been elite. That's a far cry from saying there are teams better than us, historically or currently.

LSU has the second most wims of any sec team since 2000. we are third in sec championships and tied for first in the most important category and that is crystal balls. If you want to put anyone in front of us i would say bama but flordia was elite under the ole ball coach but it seems like CUM only was el;ite because he had the best college football to arguably ever play the game. We see how great they are without a qb and brantley is better than both our qbs and we are 7-1 and they are coming off of their third straight lose.
so if u want to say flordias elite then so are the tigers

Four years out of one decade does not make LSU elite.
