This is the type of defense we have been running since Bo P. got to LSU right?? (Please correct me if I'm wrong).

Can somebody with some knowledge on that defense explain to me how it is run please. What are some other teams in college football that have run this with some success so that I have something to compare it to?

I'm trying to find reasons here to get behind our coaching staff and believe that they will fix it. I'm not jumping all over Lee's arse, or anybody on the offense for that matter. I'm not jumped on any player on the defenses arse either. I haven't been happy with the defense for quite some time. Maybe the defense just doesn't work for the type of athletes we have. Someone explain because I'm ignorant on the subject.

I get the frustration. I think we all are, but I'm looking for some answers.

Well isn't the Big 10 known as one of the better defensive conferences? Why does it work there and not at LSU?

Every defense is read and react. Saban runs one of the more complex read and react schemes in all of football. Defenders having to make a read before they make a play is not the problem.

Then what is? Is it possible that our defense was just that overrated?

honestly, I don't know. Part of it is scheme (we don't have a playbook full of plays that attempt to confuse the offensive reads), part is teaching the scheme (nobody seems to know what they're even supposed to be doing), and part is playcalling (calling blitzes at the wrong time, not calling blitzes when you should, doing a bad job of setting up QBs to throw interceptions - Pelini was very good at this one).

Did these two not learn anything from him?? They were coaching on the defensive side with him.

That's the strange thing to me. They're using his playbook, but they're not calling the scheme anything like Pelini did. He didn't bring a whole ton of pressure, but he used a bunch of different zone looks that confused QBs and made them throw interceptions. The new guys are running more or less a straight up man coverage, but they're not bringing pressure in order to complement it.

We did in the 2nd half versus SC...and we tried to a few times against UGA, but our corners got their arse handed to them.

We arent coaches. It is easier to see the problem than the solution.

they teach the dline to engage the offensive lineman with their head up in a controlled rush and to never shoot the gap or be too aggressive. Play the conerback's 10 plus yards off the receiver so they can throw short passes all frickin day long. To play a soft zone so the defense can always have the play develop in front of them but yet we still end up with our safeties in one on one situations. And are so frickin stubborn they beleive they can generate a rush by just bringing 4 lineman without shooting the gaps or stunts or anything creative

I said damn near this same thing verbatim after the first few games. I thought we'd gotten things a bit under control and were settling in against SC, but I guess not.
