Davis kicked a hippie's arse....
Well, first of all he did not "plant him". He reached into his "hippie van" and pulled his long "hippie" hair and slapped him.
You are absolutely right that the "hippie" flipped him off. That would be after he was ridiculed for having long "hippie" hair by Brad Davis leaning out of the dorm room where he was harrassing a fellow student.
The "hippie" was a United State Army veteran who eventually attained two degrees from LSU Skool (that would be School for you that speak English). He also wound up being one of the most recognized graduates of said Skule.
The attorney who cut the deal for LSU was one of the most corrupt and moraly flawed people ever to get a diploma from the school.
If you don't think that the rules get bent at every major university, including this one, (which I love), then you are dreaming.

Not sure of your point. Saw film. Visited cafe in Morganza where movie filmed along with a friend (another "hippie" lawyer) who was a ringer for Dennis Hopper. Survived without having Dr. Brad Davis fix teeth.

Ferguson could indeed be as much of a bumbling fool as Hawthorne on play descriptions at times, However, he had one of the greatest booming radio voices ever (loved the line about living 3,000 years and still having his voice etched in your memory) and, unlike Hawthorne, NEVER NEVER whined.

Not sure of YOUR point. Are you saying that hippy-bashing is not only wrong, but people should actually be punished for it?
Please tell me I've misunderstood you.

It was only 800 years, I see.

I'm happy to report Walter Hill is still alive and kick'in living just north of Lafayette. I'm his youngest son and I live in Pineville. Tiger fams will be happy to know he still bleeds purple and gold and we talk after every game. His health is not good but he's the only one left of what I use to call "The Big 3", my dad, John and Sid Crocker. Sid passed away a year or 2 before John. You may also remember my father would put together "The Charlie McClendon Show" while working at WBRZ. I can remember as a kid him doing the broadcast, going back to the television station staying all night editing film, they used that in those days, and having the program ready for McClendon who would arrive at 6 a.m the next morning to tape the show. The tape of that would then go out by bus to the various cities across the state who carried the show. Those were the days when "tailgating" for us was a bottle of Jack Daniels, 7Up, and a bag of chips.

"Coffee (Al) is spilled for a loss of three" - John Ferguson
Thanks for the update on Walter Hill.

Thanks so much for the information, Masters508. I have always been a big fan of your Dad and so enjoyed listening to him do color commentary for John Ferguson. Give him my best wishes from a Tiger fan who grew up around Gonzales, La. and always enjoyed listening to your Dad and Mr. Ferguson when I wasnt at the games in Tiger Stadium or listening to them at away games. Best wishes to you as well.

Never forget Walter Hill's "and here come da Tigers" comment before each game. Great man and his son Mike is a dear friend...an attorney in Lafayette...

I guess on second thought, John did struggle from time to time regarding a completely accurate description of what was happening. But, in contrast to Hawthorne, he was never negative in his "tone".
For example, against Bama the other night, on the trick play, Hawthorne can be heard saying the receiver is "wide open, it's intercepted" literally without a break. Jim is a good guy, but needs to stick to baseball, we need a new John Ferguson.
I miss John Ferguson.

Where is Brad Davis now
Brad is a dentist in opelousas, louisiana. He plays golf 2 3 days a week. I remember where i was for the ole miss game. I was at a snack shop when lsu scored and i threw my drink all over the ceiling in crazed excitement. As for mr fergurson, he was the best, i remember him calling describing tackles as "he is submarined down at the 22". As for mr Hill he was also the weather man for channel 2 as i recall. I surely miss them. Mid to late 60's that was the only connection for me to LSU football. The radio usually in a truck out in the yard.

I also remember John Ferguson broadcasting the Baton Rouge Red Sticks baseball games, broadcasting from the ticker tape as events transpired on the road....no remote broadcasts in those days. We would listen to the games as if he was at the site when he was in the studio. They even had sound effects...
Ferguson famous for using words like " a prodigious hit on Joe Labruzzo".....a nice man and the consummate professional...did a great job raising money for Tiger athletics....
Walter Hill nicknamed Charlie McClendon as "Jolly Cholly"..

I was in the student section for that game. I still see the Rebel flags waving when the OM CB knocked the pass down on what everyone thought was the last play of the game. Then the pass to Brad Davis and you couldn't find a rebel flag anywhere! We just stood screaming for about 10 minutes. My best moment in TS, just above the 07 Auburn game.

3 minutes left. Ole Miss ahead 16-10. Stopped them. They punt into the end zone.
The single greatest athlete to ever play at LSU, Mike Miley, was the return man on that punt.
