From the Advocate this morning...

Miles said he and his staff have talked about possibly moving one of the running backs from a crowded backfield to wide receiver, but it may be a little early for that. “I’m not so certain he’s not our best tailback, so that’s one of the reasons we’re moving slowly there,”

Who is good enough to possibly be our best RB but also has the speed and height to play WR? Blue?

That RB is Alfred Blue. He is 6'2" 215 pounds so he is tall and not too bulky. I can see why the staff wants to see him more at RB because he has the skills to be a combo of Ware and Ford. The question would be his hands. I hardly ever see him catch a ball and his Jr year may be a bit late to learn how to catch. Maybe he's a quick learner and can turn into a tough to defend possession receiver in the slot. The runningback corp is log-jammed right now with exceptional talent.

blue was looking pretty damn good but imagine having him in the slot with ware/ford at RB and hilliard at FB. plus our 2 great WR on the outside man thats alot of options including reverses with blue.

At 6'2 215, Blue seems like the most logical choice. The idea is to have the best players on the field... With our talented group of running backs, this makes sense

Blue could really excel at the position.

That might be his shot at the NFL also.

I don't think this is an accurate statement. I think he has a great shot to play in the NFL at runningback. The problem is there is too much talent at that position and he is the only one who has the body type to make the transition.

These other RB's do not fit the body type of a WR:
Hilliard 5'11" 240
Ford 5'10" 215
Ware 5'11" 225
Magee 5'9" 215

I was thinking of Blue as well. People remember Josh Reed and Joseph Addai but haven't mentioned Eric Martin. He's another guy that made a successful transition. We need a tough receiver who can go over the middle. Blue might be the guy.

Blue has the measurables. What made Josh Reed so successful, so quickly with his transition to the WR position was his route running. Reed was exceptional at gaining separation. If Blue can accomplish this part of the game, then look out! However, I thought he was our best homerun threat at RB last year. Hmmmmm....

The same thing was tried with Josh Reed and he ended up with the Biletnikoff.

The same thing was tried with Devery Henderson and he's an NFL starter at WR.

I'd like to see Blue stay at RB, he's a lot of fun to watch running the ball

Blue making some downfield blocks for our running game. Wow. If it gets him on the field then great, but what does that say about our WR's if he is beating them out for a starting position?

He's not starting yet. They were talking about TRYING him out.

give them some space to play and experiment. its just spring.

He's not better than ford, or Hilliard from what we've seen.

Ware, hill, and Magee all want PT as well.

Something has to give.

Blue has the height and weight to be a good WR. If he stays at WR, he's one of the tallest on the team.

when Blue isn't in the game as RB couldn't we use him in the slot.

It doesn't necessarily say anything about the WRs. It may just mean that Blue is a natural at the position.

he's real tall for being a slender back. those aren't very common in the NFL
