Very well. I stand corrected. Thought he was. Oh well, I guess the CWS win and MVP will just stack up in his trophy case.

yes, the team has to win 1 at a time, but last time I checked, none of us are suiting up, we are allowed to look ahead

Their leadoff guy, Jarret Parker, is a DEFINITE future MLB'er, despite not having a good series in Oxford.

Absolutely we can look ahead. And you can be sure that PM has penciled in some pitching rotations. He has to. This is a long series and the winners' bracket vs the losers' bracket are very different. For example, IF we lose 1 of our 1st 2 games, we will need to win 3 more games. Which means we need starts out of Ross, Bradshaw, and either Cain or Byrd. For that reason I'll bet you don't see Bradshaw, Cain, or Byrd come in for any type of long middle relief in those 1st 2 games. You will see Bertuccini and maybe 1 of those guys. You HAVE to plan.

we wouldn't need starts out of all those guys, you could get through the losers bracket with only throwing Ross, Coleman, and Ranaudo, maybe Bradshaw

You have to do this in order to know who you can turn to in relief.

If you throw Coleman and Ranaudo on less than 6 days rest.

ETA: PM used them in the SEC Tourney. I realize it was a 5 day tourney, but I think you can look for the same here, if we have to come out of the losers bracket.

you don't think PM would throw either Coleman or Ranaudo in less than 6 days rest, I think he will, especially Coleman if he has to.

Big difference in tourneys:
NCAA Tourney>SEC Tourney
Also, this one is spread out a ton more. I guarantee you Byrd/Cain wouldn't have started those games if it meant the season was on the line

It would be a judgement call on PM. Obviously he knows his players better than we do. But my guess is no, he wouldn't. I think he used Bradhshaw and company in the SEC tourney and got a good read that he can use them in the post season. Having them fresh vs overworking our aces. That's my opinion.

So, if we win our 1st 2 games, lose on Friday, and are in an elimination game that Saturday, he wouldn't throw Coleman or Ranaudo?

No, I agree at that point that Ranaudo is very likely to get the start in that situation. My argument is that he wouldn't pitch the Friday game. I think we would see him there, he would have 6 days rest and should be ready to go. It would be ashame we wouldn't have him for the championship series, but that's how it goes.

So you think Mainieri would pass on using him in Game 3 of a championship series? I don't.

If he pitched on Saturday? Would/could he pitch on Wednesday? 3 days rest? Hmmmmmm. What would your answer be if he pitched 130 pitches on Saturday? If he pitched 120? I just don't see it. Putting him out there on 3 days rest could hurt our chances of winning that game. I don't know. Like I said, that's my opinion.
