Thomas is a great example of the lack of foresight and since of urgency within the unit as a whole. We took a potential elite weapon and turned him into a fair catching robot.
?? What are you talking about? Thomas is as aggressive as it gets in the return game, but he can’t control the punter on the other team. They all know how dangerous he is, so they all kick for hang time to force fair catches. What is he supposed to do? Field kicks with guys stand around him without calling for a fair catch? He’s returning anything that he gets a sliver of daylight on, punt or kickoff.

Does LSU have a special teams coach; need to hire one.
Unless the rules around analysts change, who are you firing to make that happen? We currently have a full compliment of position coaches. Who do you dump to open a slot for a ST Coach?
Most teams don’t have separate DE and DT coaches, but it’s hard to argue against the results with Peoples and Davis, on field and in recruiting. The rest of the coaches are all positions of need.

Paging Gaston
Gaston already said LSU doesn't have a coach on staff for ST. He isn't going to have his son go there with no development. He's going to Arkansas where they have been putting ST guys in the league.

First FG - You could see the laces when he kicked the ball, this is On the Holder
Second FG - Laces were facing the holder instead of goal posts but he also did not hit it well either so this is on both.
Third FG - Either Snapper or holder I am not sure which one.

Kelly is really bad at things like controlling the field. We have a punter that can’t book it long or pin it deep in their territory. The offense constantly sputters just outside field goal range. You have to plan for these sorts of things.
This is stupid
Ramos obviously can kick them during practice or at least sometimes. He wouldn’t be a starting kicker in the SEC otherwise. One of those was a bad hold. I saw guys saying 2 of them but I only saw one.
So the “plan” you’re proposing is, if it’s a 49 yarder, we instead need to just punt.
Or, if we have to pin them deep in their territory, we don’t trust our punter, so, we all blow on the ball to make it go an extra few yards forward or backward.
There’s no “plan for these sorts of things” other than get a better kicker or punter. Ramos is not terrible.

Can't we have a long range and short range guy if others aren't consistent enough yet? Burrell has the leg and kicked some long ones in HS. It is really frustrating when you have a local HS kid that is a junior kick a 56 yard FG with plenty of room to spare but then a program like LSU's best option is someone who is pushing their range at 48 and 49 yards.

quote:I thought all the snaps were problematic? I didn’t go back and watch but the first snap was fumbled and the second one was laces facing the kicker instead of out. Was listening on radio before I got to bud’s house to watch second half but was told the snapper holder messed up all 3 of those
little context, the 2 he missed was from 48 and I believe 49, they weren’t chip shots. He had an opportunity to redeem himself but the long snapper fubarred that one.
