Quick slants, option, screens

Why don't we use them more since Etling is not a deep ball thrower? Get rid of the ball quick and get the short yardage so our rb's can do the rest

I dont think etling can throw them. He only seems to throw a pass deep or if the wr is high school wide open.

On saturday, We ran at least 3 true option pays (maybe one more read option play) and a couple of screens to various personnel.
UF runs a lot of man, probably why you didn't see many slants, but I agree that they are good throws to get your QB in rhythm. They do require a quick release which Danny doesn't have. Brennan does though, so I expect to seem them called more when he is the QB.

The most open Danny had a receiver this year he missed him, unfortunately. He has some ability to throw downfield outs to the sideline though

They said during the game why we don't run quick stuff; Etling double clutches too much, which scares Canada and the rest of us.

Throw ball deep and let our 6'5" WR rebound some balls.... if it is INT it is probably better than our incapable punters can do

Atleast Dee Anderson finally got on the field this past week. Honestly I still think this kid is the purest receiver on the team other than Chark .

My guess why we don't run more quick hitting stuff is that DE's decision making and release hasn't been the fastest. If he were quicker on the trigger, maybe we would run them more

Because defenses keep their linebackers close to the LOS.....Etling has a hard time finding separation (that’s why he double clutches).....as a matter of fact, Etling did throw a couple against Fla (or maybe it was Troy)....and our WR was double covered and dropped it...until we can start giving Etling more time (OL)....we are going to struggle in the passing game...

Etling can throw deep......out of bounds deep.
