Here are updates Beginning leverage ingex numbers for our relievers:
Strall 2.37
Newman 1.60
Gilbert 1.30
Peterson 1.19
Reynolds 1.00
Kiel 0.58
Bain 0.55
Beck 0.45
Reese 0.40
Bush 0.35
Strall's numbers actually went up after his appearance this weekend. But it's a bit misleading and highlights a flaw in the methodology. The run differential numbers on the cart only go up to 4, which means that any lead or deficit that is 4 or greater is calculated the same way from a leverage standpoint. Obviously, coming in with the bases loaded and no outs is different when you come in up 10 or whatever the true differential is, than if you come in up 4. Potentially a tying run up to bat or potentially a guy that if he scores still wouldn't show up on the chart.
And regardless of what the chart showed, I still maintain that that is the correct usage for Strall and he was properly deployed.

It isn't Tomplate, it's Tomplay.

quote:
Poche's ERA is 0.00
I did the math without looking it up.
Or having to divide his ER given up by # of innings pitched and then x that # by 9.
I learned that on Saturday afternoons from Tom Seaver as a kid.
