Dear Hoyt: Do you feel better now, maybe the answer you are looking for is on another board. Maybe the Tidefans one can help you out...

LSU's Ware had a TD from the one, but he didn't get in. That was 7 points right there!!!
Everybody knows he should have gotten in!
Bama BARELY stopped him because they were offsides and the crowd was mostly Bama fans!
I promise you!!!... if that happened 30000 more x's , LSU would get a TD every time!! I PROMISE YOU!!!
...channeling my inner Bama delusion.

Bump as it's an epic fail on many levels

I think we are about 10 points better. We beat you in your stadium which is about a 5 or 6 point advantage. Your team didnt come close to scoring really. Only a couple of plays in the red zone. When you got to our 30 your offense disappeared and you were forced to attempt long FG's. I think if the game was at Tiger Stadium we win by at least 10. I think we win the NC 24-10.

My only problem with Bama is that after LSU beat the Tide in their own house..a great portion of the fan base remained arrogant. I do not mind playing Bama again, but the Alabama fans should be a little grateful that things fell just right so that they get a chance.
I guess I also cringe at the notion that Bama played better than LSU in the first game. True they had more yards, but it was like 50 more yards and neither team had more than 300, so big whoop.

For a storied program like BAma it is very unbecoming to hear the plethora of continued excuses. I am quite frankly embarrassed for Bama nation.

MY nominee for post of the fricking year. Awesome interpretation. Thanks
Better yet; after re-reading it; I may nominate this post for an Academy Award. It's that good.

yes
defenses are about the same (LSU gives up more yards between the 30s but as Bama will tell you that stops between the 30 and 20 yard line). LSU has a better stable of running backs and a better #1 WR
and special teams are clearly in LSU's favor compared to Bama
Bama is a very very good team though

So much worse than those penalties that the other team commits on your behalf...

I think they are even , but i believe we have the better coach. I said before the first game we would win because of coaching not talent. Saban should have been punting us down inside of our 20 instead of kicking field goals out of your kickers range. Believe it or not we have a better coach.

Go ask Mark Barron and Donte Hightower if they are really the better team? Maybe they'll show you all their trophies. LOL.

Boy I really do HATE these delusional Bama A-Holes!! "F the Tide!!!" Can't wait for LSU to beat their arse down. I'm VERY sick of all of them. Crimson and the state of alabama makes me F'ing PUKE!!! All of ya'll Bama a-holes geaux straight to HELL!

Actually that would be technically Bama "did not".
By the way, penalties are usually self inflicted and on this one, without either of the ineligible blocks (yes there were two) on the play, Bama would not have "technically" or otherwise reached the end zone. Is this another of you guys "what ifs" proving you were the better team?
Any news on a new kicker??

Hoyt,
As you noted, these two teams are very evenly matched. But to summarize many of the comments made to your post, let me say:
1. How could the better team lose to a lesser team in their home stadium ? In the Game of the Century?!
2. Since when has the proud program of Alabama justified a loss by arguing statistics and the fact that the game was very close and went into overtime?
3. TR, according to the Heisman program, is 40% of your offense. Our offense has 4 different running backs who pound away all with different skills and strengths.
4. We are deeper at all positions with the exception of Offensive Line.
5. Special teams is treated by Coach Miles as an integral part of his teams' success whereas it appears that special teams for Bama is not stressed to the degree it is at LSU. In fact, I recall many LSU fans on the message boards going nuts because he offers schollies to punters and kickers. Some fans think those guys should just walk on. Les is of a different mind in that regard and he's proven his way of thinking is correct. This makes our team strong.
6. I have the utmost respect for Saban's coaching, but I see very little advantage to Bama in that category. Les has proven to be a pretty damn good football coach in his own right..esp. when given 2 or more weeks to prepare.
7.We are the only Div. I team who remains undefeated. By all objective standards, that makes us the best.
8. Arguably, your LBs are better than ours, but ours fit the Chief's system perfectly. We are better or as good at every other position. Pre-Game I, your defensive backfield was reputed to be better...post-season awards would say LSU's DBs are better.
When you look at the talent at each position, the body of work during this season, and the fact that we went into the lion's (elephant's) den and came out unscathed with another win, I do believe the LSU football team is better than Bama's this year.

First off, Hoyt, I like your attitude.
I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt that you're not being condescending.
To answer your question, yes, I am convinced that LSU is the better team, but by a slim margin.
Bama is a fantastic team, but the edge goes to LSU for having better ST and a more dynamic offense.
I'm not one of the people who calls Bama fans delusional (and I think the BCS made the right decision).
LSU's fans can be overzealous, too.
But, reading your forums, I was disappointed by how many people are STILL talking about the interception and the Mathieu hit.
You guys are great; but at the end of the day, the scoreboard is what matters.
The context of our win is immaterial.
We won.
We will do it again.

deeper, not necessarily better
that's the friggin point...if it were not true who would go around bragging that they had "more players"? we have 2nd and 3rd string players that are coming in and there's very little if any dropp off in intensity, thus deeper=better.
